Haha, you've stolen my thoughts and captured my tongue. Well said. We were led to believe, told, shown till then and promised, that this was a different kind of show, that's why I'm so disappointed. I guess there really isn't such a thing as a "different show" in the end. They all own and religeously follow that ancient, out of date TV romance 101 guidebook, and insult the fans' intelligence by thinking we want what's written in it (namely, last minute weddings and kisses, white picket fences and holding hands skipping round the gazebo 24/7).

And Lauren hated Partings' ending? She sure took a lot of heat going around insisting it was good drama and a natural progression for Lorelai, who apparently wasn't over Chris (though most of us believed he was out of the picture for her long before).

Am still watching and enjoying S1. I've only seen bits a pieces from S1-S5 for a looong time so I'm really enjoying the old ones in their entirety and really shouting at the tv, LOL.
In 1.07 I love how Lorelai explains to Dean that the whole town loves Rory and here we are in 7.22 and they are throwing her a party. Nice!

Am I weird for dislisking Dean all of a sudden?

Better go catch up.. Might be the last time :-((
