After a violent shipwreck, billionaire playboy Oliver Queen was missing and presumed dead for five years before being discovered alive on a remote island called Lian Yu. Oliver returned home to Starling City to his devoted mother Moira, much-beloved sister Thea, his old friend, Tommy Merlyn, and ex-flame Laurel Lance. However they sense Oliver has been changed by his ordeal on the island. Oliver secretly creates the persona of the Arrow – a vigilante – to right the wrongs of his family, fight the ills of society, and save his Starling City.

After a year of trying to atone for his father's sins by taking justice into his own hands. Oliver is changed by the death of his best friend, Tommy Merlyn, who dies during the undertaking caused by Malcolm Merlyn. He vows to honor his friends memory and save Starling City in a different way - refusing to be the "killer" he once was. With his team at his side, John Diggle his right hand man (ex soldier) and Felicity Smoak, his eyes and ears (computer expert). The two most important people in Oliver's life and journey towards heroism. Oliver, the Arrow and his team are cleaning up the city and protecting the citizens of Starling. Roy Harper, who hero worshipped the Arrow also is also a member of Team Arrow. Alongside honorary member, Captain Quientin Lance (who once hated the Arrow) at the helm in the police department. Oliver has many enemies lurking in plain site will he be able to defeat them...

I really really enjoyed the episode I thought it was a good "part 1" set up for the trilogy and the rest of the Team Arrow characters were able to hold their own with out the center of the show. Although it still felt like something was missing with out Oliver and his lack of presence was definitely felt and will make him coming back to the fold that much more rewarding.

EBR and DR were amazing and captured the grief of losing a love one, that scene when they find out its Oliver's blood broke my heart :'( Felicity is 100% projecting Oliver onto Ray. Im still not sure if I feel like the writers are taking Raylicity in a romantic direction but if they do the relationship will be doomed because Ray is ALL about Oliver for Felicity. A way for her to deal with her feelings and thoughts and reactions to Oliver's choices. Ray doesn't know that, doesn't know that when Felicity was getting hysterical over the suicide mission he was on that it was only like 5 maybe 10% about him.

Laurel was also great this episode for the first time it felt like she was back to the Laurel she was in season one. I loved seeing her in the court room all passionate again and how generous she was in the moment that she reassured Felicity that Oliver will come back. The Laurel/Oliver romantic ship has sailed.

I also liked the set up of the villans team up under Brick and that its a real threat and someone juicy the Team are forced to sink their teeth into and that eventually its going to bring them to a place where they will learn that they are in this mission for more then Oliver. Its going to make it that more interesting when he comes back to see how they have bonded and worked together in his absence. Although I call Oliver being the one who will eventually take the final blow against Brick.

Anyone else curious to know whats up with Maseo and Tatsu? Like I always thought Tatsu was going to end up dead and thats why Maseo was with the League but turns out she is alive.

I think it has been confirmed hasn't it that Oliver comes back at the end of episode 12. Or at least the Team knows that Oliver is alive because Marc spoiled on tumblr that Felicicty's reaction is "Mad.As.Hell" when answering a question on what her much hyped scene at the end of 3x12 is like. And Andrew Kreisberg also mentioned Felicicty speaking up about her feelings to Oliver in 3x12.

^Yeah plus there was some article where either AK or MG said Oliver would be back sooner that we expected. He was already awake and trying to move last night, and he was sitting up in the promo. He's healing pretty quick. I can't imagine he won't head back to Starling City as soon as he feels even remotely ready to go. Besides nothing in spoilers, teases, in articles, EP's on Twitter, etc has pointed to him being gone for much longer at this point. Especially not 4-5 more episodes.

I enjoyed Laurel last night (she could have had more airtime but looks like she'll get more next week). Her scenes with Felicity and Diggle were really good and of course the scene at the end.
