I’d like to remind you all that this is the main Gilmore Girls spoiler thread, and as such, posters from various shipper groups are free to post here, so if you see someone saying something that you don’t like about “your” favorite character or couple, don’t start fighting with them on this thread, and don’t go into a Gilmore Girls shipper thread if you don’t like the couple that the shipper thread is for. Episode 7.14 - Farewell, My Pet

The CW: LORELAI AND CHRISTOPHER CONFRONT THEIR PROBLEMS - Two days after his by-pass surgery, Richard is on the road to recovery, and Rory returns to Yale, where she finds that Richard's economics class is now being taught by an attractive young professor, Tucker Culbertson (guest star Cameron Bender), who flusters Rory with his charm. While Lorelai (Lauren Graham) tries to distract herself from the issues in her marriage, she and Sookie focus on planning a funeral for one of Michel's beloved dogs. Finally, Christopher returns ready to talk, and he and Lorelai discuss the main problem that has haunted their marriage - Lorelai's feelings for Luke (Scott Patterson. Kelly Bishop, Keiko Agena, Liza Weil and Matt Czuchry also star.)

TV Guide: While Richard recuperates from surgery, a new professor (Cameron Bender) takes his place and steals Rory's heart with his charming ways. Meanwhile, Lorelai finds ways to avoid facing her problems with Christopher, including planning a funeral for one of Michel's departed dogs. But Christopher returns home and they discuss Lorelai's feelings for Luke.

The CW: THE ROAD TO RECOVERY ─ At a Friday night dinner, Lorelai (Lauren Graham) works up the courage to tell her parents about the break-up of her marriage, but is derailed by their argument over the healthy meals and no-alcohol policy Emily (Kelly Bishop) has instituted to help Richard (Edward Herrmann) recover from his heart attack. Lorelai enlists Sookie (Melissa McCarthy) to bring Richard healthy but delicious meals, then helps Emily organize Richard’s business affairs. Over a shared bottle of scotch, Lorelai finally tells her mother about the breakup of her marriage. Rory (Alexis Bledel) attends an awkward birthday dinner for Logan (Matt Czuchry) with Mitchum Huntzberger (guest star Gregg Henry), who asks her to help him steer Logan in the right direction. Later, Logan receives disturbing news about the online company he purchased. Finally, Luke (Scott Patterson) shares his home with Liz (Kathleen Wilhoite), T.J. (Michael DeLuise) and their baby daughter while their house is being fumigated. Liza Weil and Sean Gunn also star. (#2T7765).

TVGuide: Lorelai and Rory attend Friday-night dinner, where Lorelai is reluctant to tell her mom about her and Christopher's marital problems. But Emily has enough on her plate when the recuperating Richard complains about his dietary restrictions and Emily's strict no-alcohol rule. Meanwhile, Rory plans a birthday celebration for Logan, whose dad calls to invite him and Rory to dinner instead; and Liz and T.J. stay with Luke while their home is fumigated because of a moth infestation.

TVRage.com: At Friday night dinner, Lorelai finally decides to tell her parents that her marriage to Christopher has fallen apart, but doesn't get a chance to when an argument breaks out over Emily's new healthy, no-alcohol meals to help Richard recover from his heart attack. just my .02 cents:

re the promo--I just keep watching it over and over...and LG is so good in that scene..and it saddens me to watch--but, this is what I think:

she has tried very hard to commit herself to Christopher. Knowing full well she never really got over Luke. So she pushed him to the back of her mind and tried to forget him. Then Chris brings it up along with the letter and it all comes back...he storms out and Luke shows up at the hospital--Lorelai is happy that he's there but in the back of her mind she doesn't want him there because of the implications of the letter with Chris and she doesn't want to see proof of her failed marriage with Chris being absent at the hospital. Also because she is trying to convinvce herself that what he said isn't true. But seeing him there and listening to Emily go on about what her marriage is like makes Lorelai realize that she doesn't have a real marriage with Christopher...and she vocalized it to Chris when she left the message saying she doesn't even know how to be his wife. She realizes that she doesn't have the kind of relationship she wants. Christopher is a selfish terd. He couldn't even be bothered to check his damn voicemail. I hope she gives him crap next week instead of defending herself for Luke being there even though she had no idea he would show up.

Now the part in the promo where she said "I need you to know that you are the man I want to want" says to me that she is not over Luke yet, but that she doesn't want to be in love with Luke. Firstly because she thinks he doesn't love her, and secondly because she doesn't want to be in love with him. Because of everything that went on between them, and all the pain he caused her, it hurts her to love Luke more than she does Christopher--a guy who wants her. So that's a tough situation to be in. That's pretty much my take on things. It looks like Chris will be somewhat understanding in the promo. Hopefully he'll realize that you can't force someone to fully love them the way you want. It's selfish, and he needs to realize his part in this whole mess as well.

It's where it was at 7.02--and behind 7.09, 7.05, 7.04, and 7.03.

But, in fairness AI probably is the reason that the Lorelai/Chris date in 7.04 outdrew Richard's heart attack. Of course, last year it was Chris and the LLD storyline, not AI's fault

BTW, 6.13 drew 1/2 mil more viewers.

Being serious, they got a good jump this week, but it was only 1/2 the jump WBB got two years ago. And it's rating on the CW, for whatever reason, aren't as good as they were on the WB. Only 3 eps in S5 & S6 (IOYO, TRPA, IGASOOY) had lower ratings than IRBIP

That said, being #2 in the desired demo is huge

I love the title

And Craig: the show is doing ok but not as good as last year. I honestly agree with the "I vote to let Gilmore Girls exit while it still has some dignity left." option.

I know it wouldn't leave the writers enough time to wrap up things gracefully for Luke and Lorelai and that's a shame.

ETA: see, my hero Captain Hawkeye just supported my theory
