~Story of the thread~

This thread dates back to the 2001 World Series. Before we lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks - as we watched the Playoffs, DJ's awesome plays included - Yankees fans gathered in the old request thread to request a Yankee board (how pretentious, huh?

). Of course, we didn't have enough votes to get one so we decided to start out own thread here on the Sports Board.

26 World Championships? we'll try to do better next century. The thing is though, we love them nonetheless...

Yankees picked up Curtis Granderson.

I like the deal. Austin Jackson has huge red flags (if every single thing went right for him, he'd be a RH Granderson with less power) and IPK was probably never going to make it here, in any way.

Granderson's contract is very fair and, like Swisher in 2008, he should be due to bounce back big this coming season. Hopefully, Long can get his approach vs LHP a little more solid though.

I have a big feeling that Mastui will not come back. But no, there isn't any news on Matsui yet, but I want them to keep Johnny Damon. He was great in the post season and in the series.

Also, Pettitte's back on another one year deal ($11.75 million -- overpaying, but that's what the Yankees do) and they're still trying to work something out with Damon.

I'm happy about the Granderson pickup and that is a lot of money for one year but come on, it's Andy Pettitte! I also hope the work something out with Damon.
