New York Yankees #27: One Wang Will Make Things Right.

WELCOME to the New York Yankees Thread!

~Golden Rule~

Don't Bash The Yankees

~Story of the Thread~

This thread dates back to the 2001 World Series. Before we lost to the Arizona Diamondback - as we watched the Playoffs, DJ's awesome plays included - Yankee fans gathered in the old Request thread to request a Yankee board (how pretentious, huh? ). Of course, we didn't have enough votes to get one so we decided to start our own thread here in the Sports Board.

26 World Championships? We'll try to do better next century. The thing is though, we love them nonetheless...

Suggest to me another title and I shall change it.

Uber horrible game to watch in person tonight. Between the temp and that garbage the Yankees were calling baseball, all around gross stuff. We left when Miguel Cairo came out to play SS, figured that was the final sign it just wasn't going to happen for us (hopefully Derek's fine; he may be sucking it up defensively the first few games, but no one needs Cairo everyday).

The Yankee pitching staff world, even with our defense, will be a much better place when Wang gets off the DL.

Edit: Evidently, Phil pitched tonight. Given the weather there, he put up a nice line.

5 IP, 2 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 2 BB, 6 K, 1 WP, 1 HBP, 9/0 GB/FB

If everything continues as is, I'm calling the House of Hughes relocating to the Bronx in the middle of May. Clippard maybe in June or so.

Uuuuuugh tonight was painful.

Believe me, it was more painful to listen to the Orioles Broadcast though.

You could probably feel your face though.

I don't know how people on Thursday, when it was colder and windier, dealt. Or the folks in Cleveland yesterday, for that matter.

Whoever thought it was a good idea for teams up this way to be opening at home needs to change cable providers to one that has The Weather Channel.

Oh yeah, I could feel my face. But several times I almost grabbed my TV and threw it out the window

Lat night was discouraging because if we had just had one more hit in one of those innings with the bases loaded (or hell, if we'd managed to get a sac fly), we'd have had a chance.

I'm just trying to calm myself with the thought that when we are in first place at the end of August, the Orioles will be fighting it out with Tampa Bay for last.

Now THAT was beautiful!! I'm waaay too excited right now..!!

eta - Now that I've calmed down, I must say that today was another horribly played game, with the exception that it had a wonderful ending.

I'm not afraid to admit it, when Rodriguez came up to the plate, my heart sank because I thought that with the bases loaded and two outs, he's either strike out and get his biggest boos of the season, or fly out and get get his biggest boos of the season. But boy was I proven wrong!!

It's probably delusional to hope that today's game will allow A-Rod to finally just be another player and no longer inspire the fanbase and media to be so painfully bipolar, but I'm happy for him and the fact that we won the game nonetheless.

Our bullpen is disgustingly good, but they're going to be dead by the end of May if we can't get something going with the starters soon.

Also, our OF is looking like shades of '06. Which ain't good at all.

Our starting pitching still scares the hell out of me... but it's been less than a week, so I'll save my thoughts for later.

At least for today, Alex is loved. As for tomorrow, we'll see what happens. I'm certainly excited that he won the game for us and was able to shut up some people, for now.

I doubt it. I actually mentioned to my dad earlier (when he said the same thing) that Alex would have to do this in every single game to get the media (and some fans) to back off and shut their mouths.

I was so excited about our starting pitching to begin with (well, mostly Andy being back moreso than anyone else), but now I cringe at the thought of it. Awful. What does it say that Pavano's turned in the best performance so far. Although, I have to admit that half of Andy's problems were horrible defense that night than just him.

Still, fantastic end to the game today. It sort of felt like something out of a cliche'd movie--bottom of the ninth, two outs, two strikes, bases loaded...

I HATE CABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I hate the whole extra innings mess! I hate I missed this game!

I can't believe I missed Arod's GS! I'm so proud of him and so damn happy! I almost cried when I saw the ESPN highlights! He deserved it so much. May this be the beginning of great things for that kid.

I know it may just be a tease and everything can go back to being bad tomorrow, but maybe this is the turnaround. Early in the season so that he can shine for the coming months.

Here's to Giambi, Mo & Alex.

When we get Wang back, that will be amazing. Also, I think Pettitte's and Moose's first starts were the abberation and not the rule.

But yeah, between our starting pitching and our OF, I'm kind of worried. At least our bullpen is crazy good.

It's not an excuse, because the other teams we're playing are having to deal with it too, but I do have to think the cold weather is really ****ing with a lot of the guys.

Once we get out of the Bronx, we'll get a better picture of what we really have. If it's still this ugly in a couple weeks... then we'll be looking at a 2005 situation, probably, with some call-ups getting a shot maybe a bit earlier than expected.

I'm so pissed I don't have YES. Most of the games have probably been not watch-worthy so far. But today's was the kind I would have LOVED to see.

I didn't actually mind the end of the MASN broadcast tonight. Much

Still, I'd rather listen to YES.

Pavano's going at least six tomorrow if he has to throw 150 pitches.

Matsui was put on the DL, so Melky better get his head out of his ass and remember how he hit last year soon.
