I understand why some think it wouldn´t have been satisfied to just see one sided communication. Just that as Rayna fan them killing her off killed her also off screen, which is making also reading/writing fan fiction, making and watching fanvids etc... harder and sadder. So this is so much bigger snowball effect than just what´s on on-screen
So for many this is more about loosing also her off screen and also the way it was done. Falling down as double victim just didn´t make good ending for a strong woman. And that message how you can´t escape your past until it kills you, just sends all kinds of wrong message. So it´s also about the way they killed her. So totally respect Connie´s choice, but this was done badly. Though whole situation was mess, since it was basically out since start, but they tried to mislead us |

Was there anything juicy in the sides for the funeral episode?

I Agree it was done badly but I think killing her off was their only choice but they coulda did it a little better. On this thread we pretty much knew it was coming but a lot of fans were completely blindsided. Knowing it was Connies choice not the writers or other great actors will make me move on just as Connie did. I still think a lot of people will more miss the D&R love the most but eh well: it's a tv show time to move forward and at least give it a chance considering how invested truly the other cast members are.
So obviously next week Teddy and Tandy try to take daphne and she runs away eventually, I believe? Also, is juliette taking Maddie under her wing? |

I saw in Instagram that a guy from The Vault (which I think is a recording studio?) went in to work with Jonathan Jackson last weekend. Sounds like Avery is recording something. https://www.instagram.com/p/BQ_kvDbg...by=naffy_taffy

So, just out of curiosity, Fab and I decided to tabulate the total minutes each character has this season thus far - minus episode 509 because neither of us could stand to watch Rayna...
Anyway, final totals for 501-508 in minutes: Will - 28 Daphne - 31.5 Gunnar - 43 Avery - 49.75 Scarlett - 60.5 Juliette - 71.5 Maddie - 77.25 Deacon - 104.5 Rayna - 141.25 Times are approximate. We might be off by one minute or so but not much more than that. So yes, you're reading that right. Maddie has more time than Juliette, the supposed co-lead of this show. Deacon does as well, but there were a lot of Deyna centric episodes so it is what it is. 507 really threw their numbers up and then Rayna had that long scene at the end of 508. We didn't really count the new characters but Clay has more than 30 minutes and that's not counting all the episodes. Glenn has less than two minutes (just that one scene in 501) and Bucky is somewhere around 7-8. We did it just to satisfy our curiosity (and because we suspected Maddie's numbers would be insane) and since we now know undeniably that giving her screentime is clearly a priority for these showrunners, I'm even more inclined to stop watching after 510 or 511. Not gonna lie, finding out she had more time than Hayden pissed me off and I'm not about to sit through another half season ff'g through her scenes. It's just not worth it to me when most remaining storylines are crap. I have no idea what they were thinking. Who in the hell wanted more Maddie? Quote:

Thanks for tallying that up. It must've been a lot of tedious work! I'm not too surprised about Maddie having so many minutes, but it still just blows my mind that her character was elevated to have such an important role this season. When I filled out the survey, I said about three different times that there was too much Maddie. I hope a lot of other people do too.
ETA: A few other things blow my mind. Daphne had more screentime than Will. Juliette had half the screentime as Rayna. Half. Gunnar should've had about equal screentime with Scarlett, imo. I think they used to. And there's never enough Avery, imo. |

^ Thank you, Soup and Fab, for all the hard work it took to recover this info. I must admit I am not surprised about Rayna and Deacon's minutes. I am however stunned about Maddie's minutes. When I took the 2nd survey, I commented on the fact that Maddie is not an experienced actress who can carry the bulk of the acting on this show. But TPTB are really pushing her to become the lead. She was on The Harry Connick, Jr, Show a few weeks ago without Maisy. In time, I probably could enjoy Lennon as a lead in some show, but not ready for her to be the star in this one.
