Acclaimed country-music drama “Nashville” has returned for a fourth season—with more jaw-dropping, heartbreaking moments than ever before.

Season Three concluded with the ultimate cliffhanger—a flatline—as Deacon went under the knife to receive a liver transplant from his sister, Beverly. And when all is said and done, Rayna must learn to negotiate professional demands in the face of unthinkable personal tragedy. After the birth of her daughter Cadence, Juliette began to suffer from worsening postpartum depression and consequently recommitted to her music and movie careers—a choice that will cause her professional life to sizzle but her family life to fizzle. Her husband Avery, meanwhile, must determine how—and where—to raise their baby girl. Rayna’s teenage girls, Maddie and Daphne, grapple with growing pains of their own, knowing they have different fathers—one of whom (Deacon) may die in surgery and the other of whom (Teddy) is headed to prison.

Elsewhere, cowboy Luke Wheeler has recruited superstar Juliette Barnes to be on his record label—a timely boon, considering his biggest artist, Will Lexington, came out publicly at a press conference to the surprise of the whole industry. Scarlett and Gunnar, who together comprise musical duo The Exes, still remain exes as they embark on tour for their latest E.P., but their chemistry—both onstage and off—might soon be too powerful for them to deny. And Jeff Fordham, Rayna’s nemesis, continues to be romantically enmeshed with Highway-65 artist Layla Grant, the only person who can see the good in him but whom he always manages to hurt—whether he means to or not.

This season will see ”Nashville’s” singers, songwriters and superstars struggle to reconcile their public and private realities. Some will fight to climb to—or stay on—the top. Some will succumb to their own ambition. And all will learn how to survive in the wake of loss—proving that music may be at the heart of Music City, but drama always reigns.

“Nashville” stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O’Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Charles Esten as Deacon Claybourne, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad and Aubrey Peeples as Layla Grant.

Dee Johnson (“Boss,” “The Good Wife”), “The War Room,” “A Perfect Candidate”), Callie Khouri (“Thelma & Louise”) and Steve Buchanan are executive producers of ““Nashville”.” The series is produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment

That promo had lots of yelling, crying and more Deacon fighting! So much goodness to look forward to with this newly married couple!

That scene in the promo with Rayna approaching the car-- is that outside The Beverly? Is there a person/Frankie on the ground? I definitely noticed a guitar on the ground and it looking like a property had been trashed. Is it possible Deacon just trashed his stuff instead of fighting him? Either way, I am effin' OVER this abusive/destructive/monster Deacon nonsense. Tonight it was over-the-top as well. This show can't do anything gently or subtly, can they?

Connie sounds about as unenthused and over it in all of her most recent interviews as we do. A lot of wishing they could be happy instead of going full speed into crazy drama right after their wedding. Can't say I blame her one bit!

And Tandy's threat to Deacon... yup, definitely see that coming back up in her return in episode 4x19! Joy!

I'm still in a wedding-daze after tonight's episode, but reading the current spoiler kinda put a damper on everything.
Connie sounds pretty unenthusiastic in that interview and to be honest. I can't blame her. There really seems to be no more happiness for anyone after the wedding. The promo showed that too.

I get that they need some drama, but for me it's all about the balance. Right now, though, it seems to me that all we get are sad and depressing storylines.

Also, hearing that Rayna and Deacon will not have one single song together this season really is such a shame. They are all about the music. It's what's connects them. It's what people love about them.
So sad that the writers put drama over everything

I'm assuming that preview is not for next week, per se, but, a compilation of upcoming episodes?

Is that right?

All the car stuff is about some homeless girl that Rayna basically decides is her new pet project for like 2? episodes. she is living in her car and it burns up, then she dissapears and we never hear about her again lol.

They're a united front all the way up to Maddie's emancipation ruling so I think the fight in the promo is a brief thing that comes from them both being panicked that she's gone.

Of course the promo is making that out to be the end of the world, when in reality we are a couple of episodes away from the actual doom.

Do Will/Kevin have a mashup name? Kill seems...well, Wevin is the alternative.

At this point, I just really want to know if it's over at long last. Because if it is actually renewed, I need to start preparing myself for the most outlandish storylines on any show I've watched in recent years. I remember watching SOAP back in the day when they had that baby that was possessed by the devil. I thought that was WAY out there. These Nashville writers though...they must take it as a challenge to think up the most OTT/stupid storylines ever.

Willin?

And that interview sounds like she thinks or even knows they are getting cancelled.

I sure hope you are wrong about them knowing they are canceled because if they do they are beyond evil to the fans to write with those two cliffhangers. And the Juliette one isn't even the worst one.
