Acclaimed country-music drama “Nashville” has returned for a fourth season—with more jaw-dropping, heartbreaking moments than ever before.
“Nashville” is set against the backdrop of the city's music scene and follows Rayna Jaymes and Juliette Barnes. Both women face personal and professional challenges as they navigate their paths as artists and individuals. Surrounding them and often complicating their lives are their family, friends and, in some cases, lovers, as well as the up-and-coming performers and songwriters trying to get ahead in the business. Music City can mean so many things to different people. In "Nashville," musicians and songwriters are at the heart of the storm driven by their own ambitions. Some are fueled by their creativity and passion for fame. Others struggle to cope with the pressures of success and are doing everything in their power to stay on top.

Thanks for the new thread. Maybe if you can, edit the title number to 73 or maybe a mod can so it doesn't get too confusing. I have to say I kinda like the title. Not because it's bashing Ed and Marshall but because I think a lot of us had way too high expectations for them. The previous writing team made a lot of us feel like Ed and Marshall coming to replace them would give us the show we always wanted because the previous writers did quite a lot of damage in season 4. Unfortunately unlike their other projects they don't know the characters histories as well so they are making mistakes. Which wouldn't this bad if it weren't for the fact that it is turning off a few fanbases while one of their bigger ones is currently in jeopardy. Let's hope season 5B can bring us better for everyone and that CMT with the surveys will give them guidelines as to what the viewers want fixed.

I can't change the title. :(

I hope so too!

I've lost interest in following spoilers recently - just wondered if it looks like Lennon & Maisy are filming much lately ?

Hoping beyond hope that the answer to my question is no by the way

Well the most positive way to answer that would well they filmed way less in 513 than the 509, 510, 511.

It´s just that if this goes as many of us think it will, there are a lot of people who just can´t watch because it will become too painful...

Which just shows why Marshall and Ed lacked in their thinking of planning this season. Instead of catering to the audience who would likely leave with Connie they should have eased the transition so that they could maintain as much as the audience as possible. They made Rayna more centric and essentiel than ever instead and pissed off the three other shipper fanbases that were endgame before the season started. So now we have no Kevin/Will, Scarlett has become unrootable for a lot of people and J/A have nothing but the random 50 seconds fight every other episode.

Yes to that all and also pushing Maddie to us plus also how they handled things with Connie. You can write people out without killing and especially without all these mind-games.

I know that many people would watch if Rayna is just out of screen and not dead. So it´s not about Connie leaving, but losing character completely and noticing you can´t trust anything.

I will never fathom why thought this was the way to go. It's an insane strategy. So either: Connie is staying (highly unlikely) or the 2nd part of season 5 is going to suddenly, jarringly, swing back towards the other characters, with Juliette and her family receiving as much focus as Rayna did in the first part of the season. Are they expecting that all of the other fans will forget how unsatisfying 5A was because 5B is great for them, and there is sunshine and puppies for all??

I hate them for the stupid mind games, it smacks of condescension, from the showrunners, and possibly Connie. And how they think they've been so deep and original. Rayna goes on a cross-country road trip in episode 1, dies in a car crash in episode 9. All that surviving a life-changing incident and being hit by something random b0ll0cks that Marshall was talking about. Just stop. We're not stupid.

It's the worst possible way to handle it.

With regard to Rayna - IF she dies I can only think that Connie made it clear that she was not open to returning and wanted her character written off permanently. Otherwise they could have gone with her being away on tour or whatever for a while.

I get that they wanted to make a big story out of Rayna going but I don't think they could have got this more wrong if they tried !!

Like we've all said with this insane imbalance towards Rayna and Maddie they have pissed off all the other fan bases and a lot of the neutrals . Who knows if those fans will come back ? Why would they if Maddie is still front and central in every episode.

And they will have devastated the Deyna fans even more by giving them episodes like 507 and 502 and all the other Deyna loving scenes. If Deyna were my favourite couple I would be so pissed that they had done that only to snatch it all away so finally.

They should have eased off on the Rayna screentime gradually and built up the other stories more. And by other stories I do not mean Maddie. I really don't know where they can go from here.

Wonder if all the writers are sat in a room now thinking - **** we really messed that one up
