Two themes for first half of Season 5: "Sometimes things aren't what they appear to be, and...love is a dangerous weapon." ღ


Welcome to Storybrooke, Maine, a small town that probably won’t show up on your GPS, but it’s a magical place to visit. Reality and myth merged after Emma broke Regina’s curse, which had deprived the fairy tale characters of their memories and trapped them in our modern world. When they finally regained their identities, our heroes were dismayed to discover that they weren’t transported back to Fairy Tale Land. To make matters worse, Rumplestiltskin – aka Mr. Gold – decided to escalate his power struggle with Regina by introducing magic into the town. But this is our world, and magic always has a tendency to yield unfathomable consequences.

“Once Upon a Time” returns to the ABC Television Network for its fifth season and master storytellers Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz (“Lost,” “Tron: Legacy”) invite everyone to join Emma Swan, Snow White, Prince Charming, The Evil Queen, Hook and all the other resident fairytale characters as they cope with Emma’s new role as The Dark One and begin the search for Merlin. This is a journey that will take our heroes from the Enchanted Forest to Camelot and along the way bring many surprises, including encounters with a brave and headstrong Scottish princess named Merida.

As the season continues, new fairy tale characters will be revealed and old acquaintances will be revisited. Not everyone can be trusted but one thing remains true — you never give up on the people you love…

“Once Upon a Time” stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Snow White/Mary Margaret, Jennifer Morrison as Emma Swan, Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen/Regina, Josh Dallas as Prince Charming/David, Emilie de Ravin as Belle, Colin O’Donoghue as Hook, Jared S. Gilmore as Henry Mills, Sean Maguire as Robin Hood, Rebecca Mader as Wicked Witch/Zelena and Robert Carlyle as Rumplestiltskin/Mr. Gold.

Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz are creators and executive producers. Steve Pearlman, David H. Goodman and Andrew Chambliss are also executive producers. The series is produced by ABC Studios.

I don't think there will be major changes sadly and for Robin Hood and Regina there can be no major change as long as the Wicked Witch is on the show because yes they film and yes they have a story, but it is not about them or them alone and not her. If the writers do not understand that their fans will be frustrated and unhappy for as long as they cannot have a story without this third person nothing can change for them sadly. We do not know anything about Robin Hood's family too and he needs a centered episode so much.

I agree Gwen, Robin really needs a centric, I'm wondering if we might get lucky with 5x17 as 16 is Zelena's.

I agree with you two. For now 5B has a certain variety of centric but Robin really needs one. He may be more on screen during the Zelena centric but I'm still reluctant to this storyline at least for him. Maybe we can have a centric with him and with Christie back as Marian to see a bit of real!Marian?

Well, the writer's can't please every fan and that makes me feel for Adam and Eddy. Because we're perpetually unhappy fandom.

Why can't we just be grateful for what we're given? -- which is the show we love so much.

For me it is not about pleasing fans because when you start thinking only about pleasing fans as the writer it will not end well, but I think that if the writers want us to care about all their characters they should develop all their characters and give us information about their backstory and so on. Robin Hood came to Once Upon a Time in season 3 and he has had only one centered episode which was in parts about Oz and the Wicked Witch too and that is not enough and it is not easy to feel that we should still just be happy with the writing when you are a fan of a character who gets treated like this.

It's completely understandable for people to say Robin needs a centric or to want Robin to have a centric. Otherwise, why have him as a character.

Austenphile, I was thinking of it too,.just trying to.connect dots it made more sense a centric after a "partly" focus though with Gaston's casting it's prob Belle's...unless...

With the line up for 5B all.mains have had centric in S5. Some like Hook and Belle had/will have two. So it's only fair to hope for Robin, who's the only one amiss so.far, to have one too.
And not.everybody is grateful. Feedback is important and more balance is what some of us hope for this show to love it again like we used to.

I'm in agreement that I would like to see a Robin centric. I'm thrilled he was promoted to regular but he really hasn't had much of a voice. I really would like to see more of his past prior to meeting Marian.

I was a big fan of OQ in Season 3 and I still ship it but I haven't really had much excitement about it in a while. I'd like to see some of this dark past that Robin is talking about. I'm hoping the first few episodes in the UW without having the baby and Zelena around will give OQ some great moments.

And I really want more Captain Hood! Sean and Colin are such good friends that their natural chemistry is so obvious on screen. Their scenes in 5x03 were incredible and I want more!

Yeah. I respect those who work everyday on new episodes. I'm grateful for past seasons I loved.

But in 5a? Why should I be very grateful for the writing they gave Outlaw Queen or Snowing?

Let's put it this way ... basically for a lot of fans it's like they found this really great fanfiction that they love so much but the author hasn't updated the story in a long time because they so engrossed in writing another one. The characters show up in the other story but it's not how it was when they were in the other story.

I think it's kind of like that. I mean, I know I'm lucky because I fell in love with Emma and then CS but I do miss the Snowing love story from Season 1.

I guess I just hate this entitled feeling from fans that we're owed this and that. No, we're not. The writer's are going to write the story they're directed to from Adam and Eddy.

I'm a fanfiction writer. But I don't allow my readers to dictate the story, mostly because I try to post stories already completed.

With an ensemble cast like Once, it's impossible to include stories for everyone, including your recurring characters. You'd have to expand the season beyond your normal 22 episodes to cover story for everyone.

Do I miss some of those minor characters? Heck yeah, but I also know, they will only be included when it's relevant to the story or overall arc. If they have no purpose right now, there's no reason to include them. It'll just drag the story.
