The Anti-D/J Thread #49: To them, "soulmates" mean needing each other to break down before reaching an understanding
Welcome to the 49th Anti-Dawson/Joey Thread "Fifteen years of watching PG movies in your bedroom, followed by another year and a half pretending to be grown up only to drop each other at the first sign of crisis? That's your history? Come on, man. And you call this woman your soulmate?" Need we say more?
100. If you have sex with your "soul mate" you hair gets ruined for a year. "The truth is I've never thought of Joey in a romantic context. I've always thought of her as like a sister. I just don't think I could ever get past that. If Joey and I got together it would be, a little incestuous."
01. They are way too co-dependent. Top 5 Fights #1 The Longest Day - 3x20 "The way that I feel about him [Pacey] is completely separate from the way that I feel about you and our friendship." #2 The Song Remains the Same - 6x02 "Joey you and I both know if either one of us had stopped and thought for even a second last night, then what we did never would've happened." #3 Be Careful What You Wish For - 2x16 Face, meet cake. #4 The Dance - 2x06 "There's no justifiable reason why the girl who spent the last 15 years of her life pretending I was the only thing she wanted ended up kissing some other guy and lying about it." #5 Parental Discretion Advised - 2x22 "What I have to say you're not gonna like, so I'll say it quickly. I hope one day that I will be able to forgive my father for all of this. And I don't know if I'll ever be able to forgive myself. But I know that I will never forgive you. See Dawson, there are certain circumstances that love cannot overcome and from now on, I don't wanna know you."
"I like it but it... it's not love." - Dawson
QuotesDawson: Even if Joey came up to me today and said, "I forgive and I forget," I wouldn't.
Just two old friends making a big mistake.

I had to change the title a little to make it fit.

TFTNT!
I seriously can't believe Dawson started to plan his summer with Joey after he saw the struggle Joey and Pacey had over the last few weeks to pretend they didn't have feelings for each other. It literally look her TEARS in his face for him to budge. __________________

Thanks for the new thread!
I felt so bad for Joey in the scene where she was dancing with Dawson, literally breaking down in front of him. __________________

It's sickening that she feels she can tell Pacey how she feels about him only after Dawson tells her it's okay. Then he was like Pacey=Paris as if what she felt for Pacey was some fleeting impulse. Such a sickening episode for Dawson.

Dawson was just not a good person in season 3. I don't know if they were purposely writing him to be the villain but he came across like that to me. How he treated Joey and Pacey was unforgivable.

Exactly. Some people thought that the speech "you're off the hook" was intended for Dawson/Joey, to which I say...when has Dawson ever done a selfless thing in his life? He is physically incapable of letting Joey off the hook. He actually slept with her while seeing someone else because he had to have her at all costs. It is most definately a speech Pacey would make and had they intended the finale to go the Dawson/Joey way, I am sure Dawson's speech to Joey would be completely different...highlighting the fact that he has never done a selfless thing in his life when it comes to Joey.
Seriously when he was "setting her free" in 3x23, he told her it was a colossal mistake and all roads would lead back to him. Ironically it did not lead back to him. __________________

I don't get how that speech could have been for Dawson either. He has never once in her life set her free to be able to do what she wants. Even when he told her she was free, she could do what she wants, he was still basically calling it a mistake and in turn telling Joey she was making a stupid decision.

I can't see Dawson saying the kitchen speech. It's not in his character. And I have to think that the writers are more creative than just using the same speech they had for Dawson. Plus, we know that Josh put his own touch on it as well. __________________

I just rewatched "True Love" and I hate when Dawson tells Joey to cut him some slack and not to act like she was stuck with him. Umm buddy she was stuck with you. She figured you would never forgive her and so she stuck with you in fear that she would lose her childhood friend. She wanted to be with Pacey and she was forced to stick with you out of friendship loyalty.
I also hate how he was willing to forgive Joey but he couldn't forgive Pacey. How is what Pacey did worse than what Joey did? They were both meant to be his bestfriends and they inevitably felt an undeniable attraction to each other, then acted on it. Why was it easy for him to forgive Joey but not Pacey? Is it because he could not stand to lose out to someone he considered lower than himself? __________________

It is that and Dawson forgets that Joey actually has a mind of her own.

I can't stand that Joey seems to forget that she is her own person, whenever Dawson is around. She seems scared and she seems so trapped.
