October, 2002: Excerpt from Soap Opera Weekly, "Hit or Miss" column: Miss... Anticlimactic first time on Dawson's A show's signature couple-- Dawson and Joey of Dawson's Creek-- makes love for the first time after five seasons of waiting, and all viewers get are a few fully clothed, chaste kisses and a fade-out? Nobody expected porn, but the scene could have been more sensual or at least romantic. Even lamer: Dawson and Joey had some realistic, touching scenes before and after The Big Moment. There was plausible tension as Joey addressed her lack of contact with Dawson this summer and recounted a favorite shared memory. Then they touched. After an uncomfortably long embrace, they kissed for a minute or so (not one garment came off) and fell back on the bed as the show went to commercial. Joey's first time with Pacey during Season 4 was much better. Maybe it's good that this new episode didn't get a lot of hype, because lapsed viewers who might have been lured back would have been disappointed. Caption for the picture reads: Up the creek: Viewers weren't asking for much from D/J's love scenes, and they didn't get much.

February, 2003: Excerpt from Zap2it.com: TV Gal Mocks Terrible TV Matches 4. Dawson and Joey on "Dawson's Creek": Yes, I'm biased because I love Pacey and Joey together (it's so obvious that "Dawson's Creek" is practically bribing me to watch the show again), but Dawson and Joey are so dull together. Clearly, being with him is upsetting to her. She hasn't even been able to dye her hair all one color since they slept together. Actually, I don't think our pal Joey has had chemistry with anyone but Pacey. Could the "I love you" exchanges between her and Eddie have been any less convincing?

June, 2002: The ever-fabulous TV Gal crowned the best and worst of the 01-02 TV season, as voted by the viewing public. PJers won, technically, because the DJers lost, BIG. D/J were voted worst couple and Beeky, worst actor.

Feb. 3, 2005: Msnbc Worst Teenage Drama Queen: Dawson Leery, played by James Van Der Beek, “Dawson’s Creek” Lost Me At: One of the many times he snorted contemptuously. Dawson was the most irritating kind of bad boyfriend, in that he was the kind of bad boyfriend who was preoccupied with what a good boyfriend he was. His Attitude-O-Meter only had two settings, labeled “obsessively sycophantic” and “patronizingly dismissive.” Most disturbingly, Dawson was always convinced that if only his darling Joey would accept that destiny had made reservations for them on the great Carnival Cruise of Life, all would be solved. He was only controlling and judgmental, he reasoned, because she refused to accept the inevitability of it all and the depth of his love. There’s a word for that, and the word is “stalker.”

Reasons we hate the hellmates
1.)They are way too co-dependent.
2.)They hold each other back.
3.)They use each other as security blankets.
4.)They are always 15 and having the same argument over and over and over.
5.)They can never be togther for longer than 2 months without breaking up.
6.)They always have massive arguments but never resolve anything.
7.)They didn't want each other, they just didn't want to lose the other.
8.)Well he almost killed Pacey to win her love so that's a reason to hate them.
9.)Sex the first time was so bad that they almost killed each other and never repeated their mistake.
10.) Their chemistry had no fizzle, like a flat soda.
