The critically acclaimed drama series "Nashville" returns for a third season. In the season two finale, Rayna was left at a crossroads with marriage proposals from both Luke, her superstar boyfriend, and Deacon, her first love and the father of her oldest child. Whom will she choose? And how will she navigate the turbulent road helming her own label, Highway 65? Juliette had lost the security of her newfound love with rising artist Avery, which foundered when she cheated on him with Jeff Fordham, the record label executive who has made no secret of his contempt for her. This season she will not only grapple with that heartbreak, but also with a pregnancy.

Will's sham of a marriage is cracking under the weight of his admission to his wife Layla that he's gay, and to the cameras of the reality show shadowing their every move. Will his burgeoning career be his salvation or an albatross? Scarlett, Gunnar and Avery continue to struggle to find their muses and voices within in the music industry, and the dynamics of their careers, friendships and search for love seems to shift continually.

Rayna's daughters, Daphne and Maddie, cope with their mother's engagement as well as her ever-increasing fame, while her ex-husband, Teddy, forms a shaky new alliance with Rayna's nemesis, Jeff Fordham.

"Music City" can mean so many things to different people. In Nashville, musicians and songwriters are at the heart of the storm driven by their own ambitions. Some are fueled by their creativity and passion for fame. Others struggle to cope with the pressures of success and doing everything in their power to stay on top.

"Nashville" stars Connie Britton as Rayna Jaymes, Hayden Panettiere as Juliette Barnes, Clare Bowen as Scarlett O'Connor, Chris Carmack as Will Lexington, Will Chase as Luke Wheeler, Eric Close as Teddy Conrad, Charles Esten as Deacon, Oliver Hudson as Jeff Fordham, Jonathan Jackson as Avery Barkley, Sam Palladio as Gunnar Scott, Lennon Stella as Maddie Conrad and Maisy Stella as Daphne Conrad.

Dee Johnson ("Boss," "The Good Wife"), "The War Room," "A Perfect Candidate"), Callie Khouri ("Thelma & Louise") and Steve Buchanan are executive producers of "Nashville." The series is produced by Lionsgate, ABC Studios and Opry Entertainment.

Bumping this up and also joining the last bit of discussion on the last page (re: how much Juliette is aware of/acknowledges what's going on with her).

I think Juliette knows she's FAILING (as Cadence's mother and as Avery's wife). I think she knows SOMETHING is wrong with her at this point. However, she has strenuously and repeatedly denied that she has PPD. Sometimes she's been defensive, sometimes she's just been dismissive (she was extremely dismissive of Avery in their final scene last season, she acted like he was the one with the problem), but she has not openly acknowledged it. So if she is like "Emily, how dare you move on my husband while I have PPD!!!", I'd say that IS a claim so ludicrous it doesn't even warrant a response, lol.

of course it's not that. She knows there is something wrong with her (has since s2) but she doesn't know it is part of the symptoms and not wrong with her as in who she is. It's like any addiction storyline too. The person might know they have a problem but accepting it and seeking treatment for it is a whole other step. Juliette is not at that step yet. But no without spoiling the scene, Juliette won't be at all like that.

I do think Juliette is aware something is wrong with her, which is a major reason I WOULDN'T say she's so unbalanced or out of touch with reality that she can't be held responsible for her actions. She knows what she's doing is wrong, and she either cannot or will not stop. But I don't think she can pull that card on anyone else when protesting imagined wrongdoing.

I don't think she plans to. When she is finally ready to seek treatment, I don't see her blaming anything or anyone but herself.

That doesn't mean the writers won't write it as if she's already earned prompt and full forgiveness, and anyone who doesn't immediately offer it is completely in the wrong. I remember how it went down in early S3, lol, how Avery was written when he didn't immediately forgive her. This is NOT the same thing, and I'll be pretty livid if they try to portray it as such. Even if SHE doesn't demand that kind of understanding personally, that doesn't mean it won't be demanded in other ways.

Oh, I can only hope Avery won't forgive her that quickly, lol. What I don't want, is that if Avery chooses not to take her back or isn't quickly inclined to give her more chances with Cadence, that the narrative doesn't villify or put him down for that.

I don't think they will in terms of Cadence. But s3 writing him that way made sense since he had a part in the downfall of the relationship. Juliette didn't just wake up one day out of nowhere and decide to sleep with Jeff there was a lot of problems starting back to when Avery put her in a position to have her accept to him working with Scarlett. While this time Avery is totally blameless in Juliette's psychological issues.

Ehhh, it's not so much that from my perspective. While yes, Avery made mistakes with Scarlett, NOTHING justifies what Juliette did with Jeff. She still cheated on him. She was still the primary party in burning the relationship to the ground. However, cheating on your boyfriend of a few months, while wrong, is not even in the same universe is coming within a millisecond of seriously harming your husband and then repeatedly abandoning him and your baby daughter. One can be gotten past with time. The other, while every relationship is different, is much more of a dealbreaker to me. Maybe Avery can get past it, but I think he's far more justified this time around in saying "I don't think I can ever trust you again". And even without laying blame and assigning fault, I think this has highlighted ways that they may just not be compatible life partners.

ETA: and also, I don't their relationship literally re-started when he decided to forgive her, in the sense that he has a right to point out "This is the second time in less than a year that you completely shattered me, and I'm not interested in sticking around for a third go-round."

Not sure what you are saying there because it seems like we are saying similar things yet you are saying not so much. All I said was in the downfall the first time Avery had a part in it by the circonstances being set in motion by Avery pressing Juliette to be ok with him working with Scarlett, then Scarlett threw it in Juliette's face that she was only there because Juliette was insecure about Avery and Scarlett. Adding to that that he never responded back when Juliette said the L word and pretty much said Juliette was to blame for Scarlett getting on stage drugged up. Then slept at Scarlett's bedside when he knew Juliette had problems with it and then when on to have a conversation which Juliette misunderstood as him planning to leave her anyday so she self destructed and slept with Jeff. Avery was not blameless here. It doesn't excuse what Juliette did but he played a role in making her feel insecure about the relationship when he already knew she was insecure. Juliette was responsible about her own actions but he played a role in creating the circonstances that lead her to want to self destruct. He only admitted after the worst was done by Juliette that he had messed up in 221 and finally admitted his feelings. While this time he played no part whatsover in Juliette being out of control and running away. So people gave Avery crap on boards the first time around because he neglected and ignored the aspect of his own relationship to be Scarlett's savior and then blamed all on Juliette (and one time Scarlett) while this time Avery is shown as the saint who does everything right and is treated like crap so this time Juliette is getting the crap on boards.

And for the record, I am not saying Juliette was justified, I am saying Avery played a part in the motivation to Juliette's action in s2 while this time in s4, Juliette is herself doing everything.
