It's just the German government that is convinced that nuclear power plants are the plague and while I think they aren't necessarily something worth keeping around for much longer, the fact remains the same. You cannot shut them off. They'll always have to run, even when they're on stand-by. So instead of wasting time and money on stuff(and believe me there have been some oustandingly stupid ideas) that barely works. Relying on oil? No. Everyone keeps screaming about the risks of nuclear power plants but the truth is that they'll be mantained properly within our borders and we have no control over what happens in the rest of Europe. If something were to happen it would affect us heavily nonetheless.

I am getting a business degree (specializing in Marketing and PR) so I would love to work PR for Bayern Munich. Or, you know, write for an American tv show.

We don't have the gay marriage in Germany and I guess the United States might overtake us in the near future. What we have in Germany (for over a decade) is a so called "Civil Union". Every attempt to implement a real "marriage" has failed so far because some conversative polititians have averted it. Gay couples can call each other wife and wife or husband and husband, but they haven't the same rights as straight couples have. Fortunately it's only a question of time till this will change, because, like you said, Germany is a very liberal Country and even the most conservative polititians can't impede progress.

it's been a struggle here and we're pretty damn liberal. Now it's done but they still won't let it go. The Conservatives are polarizing opinions and they don't even really care.
