I hadn't been to sleep yet I had two hours of overtime last time, so I worked until about 6am (I got to work at 8pm). Took the bus home because it was light out, so I didn't think work would reimburse a cab, but I didn't want to take the subway yet either. I got all the way home (around 8am) and realised I left my wall at work. So I turned around and went back down to work to get it. When I said my "thanks," I had just gotten my wallet and was about to step underground to get the subway back home.

Now I'm up for another night at work.... Might have some overtime tonight, too.

I have been so good at avoiding spoilers, I'm surprising myself so thanks for the warning because I couldn't stand to get spoiled now with only a few episodes left

Overtime tonight is looking more and more like a definite tonight. I got a exception:omfiHPDomain_INIT_FAILED error mid-capture when I was working on a different drive than last night (as space is running low on the drive I was working on last night) and it kept cropping up when I tried exiting Avid, too. Forced it to quit and when I reopened, database file msmMMOB.mdb may be corrupted and media in MXF folder 1 will be unavailable. Couldn't copy the media to another drive, so my boss said to recapture the tape.

Already have 10 tapes to load, this one makes it "11." And 26 DVDs to label before I head home.

I got home about 20 minutes ago. Took a cab even though it was light out (probably got in the cab about 5:40am). Ended up working the same amount of time as yesterday (Monday-Tuesday), I just got to work earlier today (Tuesday-Wednesday). And the last tape had only about a minute of footage.

speaking of translation, we had like a million technical difficulties during the final assessment at our simultaneous interpreting class yesterday. There is one classroom with those fancy booths for interpreters and our teacher was supposed to record our interpretation of two fragments, one English into Polish and then PL-ENG. The recording works simultaneously for every booth, then she listens to it at home and gives us grades. So when we recorded the 1st fragment she briefly checked the recordings and the quality of mine was very poor, the sound was broken. So I was supposed to record it again after the second fragment. I changed the booth and recorded that PL-ENG interpretation, the quality of the recording was just as bad So I changed the booth for the third time, we knew that the sound was great in that one, so I was recording that ENG-PL fragment again with the other part of the group (there are 6 double booths so 12 people max but of course we recorded it alone yesterday) And what happened? There was a brief power shortage and the system crashed I finally recorded both speeches but I did English into Polish 3 times and Polish into English 2 times And we barely had any difficulties the entire year

Totally. Found out today the reason why the drive didn't work last night was because I plugged the drive into the main bus on the tower. That's the built in firewire 800 connections on the front and back of the tower. Boss said the MoJo takes up this entire bus so I have to plug drives in the firewire cards in the PCI slots in the back of the tower. He said to just use the SATA connections which would be the fastest connection for the system and that they are also on it's own bus. But I didn't see any SATA ports on the drive. Just firewire 800, firewire 400, and USB 2.0.

But I didn't see any SATA ports on the drive. Just firewire 800, firewire 400, and USB 2.0.

Weird. Maybe they have an adapter? It would be slower than SATA to SATA but it would still be better.
