The classic case of being caught snooping and turning it around by distracting the person via feminine charms. It happens pretty commonly.

That was always what I thought the 4th kiss would be about, since Barry isn't going to want to kiss anyone but Iris for the rest of the season.

Perhaps. I've always thought the Bug-Eyed Bandit was the most likely candidate, particularly given what Grant has said, but we'll see.

But Caitlin is supposed to have some sort of tragedy according to DP, so maybe it sticks in terms of timeline.

And on the bright side for my WA heart, at least there is no ring on Iris' finger...

It wasn't anything about her, specifically. She was just the default choice based on Grant's comments, re: Barry/Caitlin where he said that things are pretty serious for the rest of the season and that there wasn't any more "fun" stuff left. Now I could be wrong of course but I'm thinking a Barry/Caitlin kiss (even one with meta!Caitlin) would be played for laughs, a la "Drunk Caitlin." I could see it not really be played for laughs since the meta would probably be seriously flirty, and they would just have a passive Barry confused and then surprised when she kisses him. It may not be ~real but it would still look like Caitlin and Barry kissing, so it would prompt a lot of gifs. It would be trolling but it's still something.

Well, I meant played for laughs on Barry's part, since he would likely be confused. Either way, this sounds more like trolling than the writers throwing out shipper bait. I mean, I could see if this was an alternate timeline situation or real Caitlin and Barry having to kiss as distraction for something but this setup is not something I would die over as a shipper. Sounds pretty insulting, actually. lol
