Sigh. Iris' role on this show is no more or less defined by the men in her life than Caitlin. Everything used to explore and develop her character has concerned Ronnie or Barry (her work). Iris' relationship with Barry, Eddie, and her dad are important to her development as a character and where her story will eventually go. Same with Caitlin. I know it will take a while before Iris being in on Barry's secret will stick and I'm cool with that. I just need them to focus more on her work and that snooping that Iris is supposed to be prone to doing, but Iris isn't the only character here that needs more. These writers have a tendency to pile it on and maybe they should dial it back for a few eps with the villains and strengthen the core characters.

Do the writers even care about her character at all? Cause she is so isolated from the rest of the group that I see plenty of people saying that's it's super hard to warm up to her. Wow, not nice. Just my opinion, which may differ from others.

Hopefully we'll see a lot more character development on the part of both Iris and Caitlin. Both are sadly under utilized at this point.

Sure, the writers have played up the whole "Barry is tortured by Iris" angle but there have been multiple episodes already that highlighted the fact that their connection goes way beyond that. Episodes 1.06, 1.07, 1.15 and 1.17, especially showcased Iris as either narrator, hero, and/or Barry's main motivation in "saving the day."

In short, the show can go on without "Team Flash." It could even go on without Joe. But its potential is severely limited without Iris West and I think TPTB know that.

Iris is purposeless right now.

She has a great comic book destiny, but that doesn't change the fact that the writers have been struggling to write scenes for her since mid season (1.15 being the exception).

It's not Caitlin vs. Iris. It's writers not using either women's unique intelligence and having them do their job in a way that's central to the plot. Iris' investigative journalism is about as ridiculously misused as Caitlin's PhD in bio-tech.

Sadly true. I hope the writers get better about writing the stories for BOTH female characters in future.

Anyway, as to how they can bring Wells back...well, I think Barry will go back and try to save his mom. Maybe in doing so, he somehow changes things so Wells ends up surviving? (And then I expect his mom will have to die but maybe time changes enough that...someone else...dies...for Wells. Oh dear.

Hmmm... I thought the fourth girl Barry would kiss (or get kissed by) would be Brie Larson or Lisa Snart, but I could see the meta as Caitlin maybe kissing him. That would be a big treat for SB fans without altering the overall story.
