The Flash S&S #14: "You're no longer you now. You're part of something greater. Part of a speed force. It's yours."
ϟThe Flash ϟ Barry Allen was just 11 years old when his mother was killed in a bizarre and terrifying incident and his father was falsely convicted of the murder. With his life changed forever by the tragedy, Barry was taken in and raised by Detective Joe West, the father of Barry’s best friend, Iris. Now, Barry has become a brilliant, driven and endearingly geeky CSI investigator, whose determination to uncover the truth about his mother’s strange death leads him to follow up on every unexplained urban legend and scientific advancement that comes along. ϟ CAST ϟ CREW ϟ UPCOMING EPISODES ϟ SEASON ONE NEWS/SPOILERS ϟ SET PHOTOS, CANDIDS, and VIDEOS ϟ PAST THREADS Last edited by Bree347; 04-03-2015 at 09:16 PM |

All this though isn't to say I want Caitlin off the team or anything, but just a general observation about how Flash renders the ladies kinda useless. They could easily find lots more for Caitlin to do (ie. have her use affiliates to create bio-tech for Barry against the meta's). __________________

Caitlin/Ronnie had a rehearsal scene for a wedding.
If it's legit though, some of the guest choices are odd. Iris being there for one (I hope she asks Caitlin why she's marrying her cousin ). And Eddie is still a good guy and dating Iris/bffs with everyone by 1.23. __________________

speaking about useless, what's up with Iris?
Do the writers even care about her character at all? Cause she is so isolated from the rest of the group that I see plenty of people saying that's it's super hard to warm up to her. I just had a convo with a comics nerd and I was kind of surprised by what he had to say about Iris (if you compare it to the comics). __________________

The show is just terrible wrt women in general. Just last episode another woman was fridged and then there was the Barry/Eddie/Joe grossness where they literally scheme together to control Iris. It's extremely frustrating but not entirely surprising since it's from the same people who write Arrow. |

Saying she's "so isolated" is also ridiculous. Even without being in on the secret, she's been integrated into most of the major events on the show. __________________

The writers are not good with most characters not named Barry (or Eobard Thawne) but are especially bad with the women.
Caitlin doesn't have much of a plot these days and I guess she's just going to assist in the lab till Firestorm returns or she becomes Killer Frost. Iris is being used as a plot device at this point. She's an investigative reporter but I'm yet to see her actually investigate (it seems they think investigation is going to talk to Barry or Eddie about Mason (either what he suggested or that he's missing). She claimed she would start investigating STAR labs and I suppose they will stall her till the episode she investigates and uncovers everything in the span of 30 minutes. Once I accepted that almost every single character is just there to support Barry, it's gotten more fun and I no longer get annoyed. __________________

I think the CW really like Robbie. I too see Stein joining up with atom on the spinoff and Jason and Ronnie fusing. I'm praying for this. Iris is hardly useless. I do want to see more with her journalism as that a big thing for her in the comics. __________________

Yeah, I'd be shocked if Ronnie is killed off. He's likely staying on The Flash for now.
As for Iris, I'd be the first to say she needs more focus, more development on her story but a plot device? No. She has gotten development both separate from Barry and via her relationship with him. __________________

Honestly Barry's character is the one I have the most problems with, probably because he's the focus so the writers' sloppy characterization is the most glaringly obvious.
But I do need them to treat their women better. I have a really bad knee-jerk reaction to in-plot sexism, and right now Flash is extra gross with it. __________________

I wonder why the CW didn't release any synopses yesterday.
Btw I don't think it was posted here, but some of the cast will be at WonderCon on Sunday |
