Carson is alive in the scene with Kieran. Edith would never cry after O'Brien. There may be no death, just a lot of worrying. Or JF really kills off Sir Anthony to finish this plotline once and for all

and then maybe before the wedding he had changed his will to make Edith the heir. so now she has buckets of money and can be a fierce independent woman in London.

Matthew's inheriting powers might have rubbed off on Edith.....

I won't lie, I am still nervous. I am not one to predict doom and gloom for no reason but I will not rest easy until I know it isn't her.

One thing that worries me is the parallel with the Ethel storyline. Tomorrow Ethel gives up her baby to the awful Bryants, then next week Sybil has her baby. I believe Ethel is in 3.05 as well. I always wondered if they would contrast the Crawleys with the Bryants: show them taking their grandchild's working-class/servant parent under their wing as opposed to shutting him out of the kid's life like the Bryants did.

So, okay, sorry. I just want to be prepared.

Fellowes had two chances to kill Sybil off. We know that she survives both tomorrow and next week. If he wanted to kill her, he would use one of those opportunities. We know that she survives both 3x04 and 3x05. How else can she die if not in childbirth or the Irish troubles?

Tom's already worried enough. JF does not overdo tormenting his characters (sans Edith)

I wrote about it a long time ago - there's no room for a parallel story here. It's not a show about different types of single parents. And the Ethel storyline will develop - she will rebuild her life and perhaps also her relations with the Bryants will improve. There must be some development. Maybe even the Bryants will change their attitude. BTW Ethel has already had a parallel story - Jane and Freddie. I think that you overanalyze a bit . JF would not sacrifice Sybil for a parallel story for Ethel of all people.

I really think that an older person from downstairs will die. Or Sir Anthony.

As Patano said on the previous thread, explain how Sybil dies this episode and apparently gives birth next episode. I mean, I know JF likes to give us SL that are far fetched but that would take our imaginings to the limit

Lets just look forward to an episode focused on the Bransons. Yeah?

Okay. Anyway, now I think it's Isobel.

I think she helps deliver the baby, then dies in a car accident. Nothing happens by chance on this show. Last episode she talked about riding in the front seat frequently, and Anthony made that comment about car travel being the safest. Foreshadowing? They name the baby Isobel to honor her, and Sibby is her nickname.

I don't think the show would have let that spoiler about Sibby leak if they planned to kill Sybil. It would be a dead giveaway.

Plus the ep. description for 3.05 sounded worrisome for the birth, and when something sounds ominous it usually means everything is fine.

That's my theory for now.

All that. Plus, we've seen Sybil with mBB after birth and she doesn't look like a person on the verge of death in that pic. And AL said that the episode with mBB's birth is at first like from Call the Midwife, but then like a Christmas Special. It doesn't sound like an episode of doom to me at all. More like angst and drama followed by lots of heartwarming and fluffy scenes

Oh, and we know that there's also going to be a storyline with Tom feeling bad about living for a long time at DA, while Sybil will be all right with staying at DA for safety reasons. We know that she says " But I will not be free with our child's chances. We need peace and safety. Downton can offer us both". Perhaps this discussion takes place after Kieran's visit? There's no place for a death plot IMO.

It's an advertisement for tomorrow. All the scenes are either from previous episodes or what we know takes place in 3x04 (from summaries). They wouldn't put one scene from a later episode. They are worrying. It doesn't mean that she's dead, really. And we know that the baby is christened. And that s/he is alive when Tom's brother turns up.
