I was thinking, let's not be too harsh about shippers freaking out about Sybil's possible death. Watching all the trailers, I can't help but think that if I wasn't so spoiled, I would be freaking out too

Oh really, I am going to get so irritated with the Branson haters (although they have been very quiet lately) dissing Tom for "abandoning" Sybil. According to the Chronicles book it's a roughly three hour ferry ride from Dublin to Liverpool. From there you get a cab and then the train to Downton. A day's journey, at most. And Sybil is an adult who has been riding streetcars around Dublin for the past year. It's not like she's in some isolated, far-off place. Honestly! Of course the circumstances are a bit hairy, but still.

If the Crawleys should be nervous about anything, it's the horrible British authorities who might question her.

Okay, neither Sybil or the baby or Tom is going to die. I am sure of that. I don't know who is, but it will not be them. I bought Asti, so it cannot, repeat, cannot happen.
Isobel??? I think it unlikely that Tom ans Sybil would name their baby after her...M/M might want to name a child of theirs after his mother.
I think it is possible Tom's brother makes an appearance for the baptisim. And I do think he will cause Tom to assess what he is still doing at DA, given what we heard of the dialogue. This could ramp up the angst. Sybil might be happy to stay there, but Tom??? Poor fellow, I fear he is in for it no matter what.

Agreed about the circumstances and she is pretty pregnant, too. I think that is everyones' biggest concern. But she'll get there and I imagine with at least some help from Tom's friends and family. It's too bad Sybil's family seems to be less than willing to help Tom cope with the separation. I hope they don't buy the accusation. They're all convinced Bates didn't murder his wife, they'd better not believe Tom capable of arson. Hmmmm...if that comes to be what happens, wouldn't Sybil tellling them off for not taking care of/believing in him be a good scene? Doubt it will happen though

Robert always thinks the worst of Tom. We've seen that with the count. It's because of who he is, his politics and ethnicity and social class. And frankly, some haters are similarly prejudiced. It reminds me of how President Obama is not ever allowed to appear angry because people will call him an "angry black man." But white guys can get angry all they want. It upsets me, not necessarily because of my politics but because of the unfairness of it.

That's why Tom has to act "tame". If he acts on behalf of his beliefs or expresses them with emotion people get uncomfortable. It's hypocrisy, plain and simple.

So off my soapbox. But I am prepared to be protective of my BBs all over again.

People underestimate Sybil all the time in fandom. Also, pregnant women aren't made of fragile glass. There's some ingrained sexism there in thinking that pregnant women need to be coddled by the men in their life even though they themselves are the best judge of what they can handle and endure. This is why Robert getting angry at Tom "for abandoning his pregnant wife" makes sense to me. This is the guy who thinks that women have delicate sensibilities and oh, let's not talk about complicated things at dinner because of the poor, fragile ladies. I saw a gif on tumblr with Robert saying that and it was contrasted with a gif of the women carrying dead Mr. Pamuk. Haha. So yeah, I have no doubts that if a plan is made for them to go to Downton separately and Sybil says she can handle it, she can handle it. And Tom would trust that Sybil knows what she wants and that he doesn't need to treat her like fragile glass. That's what female agency is about. Ofc, I have no clue about what the circumstances are but I'm certain that if it's in a trailer to make you think one thing, it's most likely not going to end up that way on the actual show.

look at the bruhaha generated by the extended trailer. People believe that the room Edith and Mary are in when they are wearing black is Sybil's room, but if you look at Sybil's room in 2x01, you'll notice that the details in the wardrobe doors don't look alike and the window is in the wrong position. There seems to be a small part of a wall before the window in the trailer and in 2x01, the window seems to be flush with the wall in that corner. Maybe you can argue that the wardrobe was switched, but I can't imagine the walls of the room moving.

When I freeze framed the trailer and I was popping back to check Sybil's room. my episodes, I realized that the wardrobe doors look extremely similar to the wardrobe doors in Robert's dressing room as I had freeze framed 2x06 where Robert was wearing the tux and Edith comes to talk to him about Fake!Patrick. Though we know it's not likely to be Robert's dressing room since the window is on the other side of the room from the wardrobe location.

Regardless it's my two cents on the bruhaha that's been about the last 12-18 hrs.

As far as I can tell, it's generally the people who are S/T fans (not the haters) who believe that Sybil will die. That and the Branson will die meme has been going on since the end of 2x08. You would think that the fans would have more faith in Sybil's ability to get from Dublin to Liverpool and then to Downton.

As for the fragility of the pregnant woman, it really depends on the woman. There's no reason to believe that Sybil is a fragile flower when she's pregnant. Most women aren't, but at the time medical science didn't understand why certain women were more fragile than others when pregnant and hence treated women thusly with confinements and cocooning them.

I agree that if they had a plan, there's no reason to believe that Sybil can't follow through. She likes to believe that all goes well and looks for the best in people, but it doesn't mean that she's stupid and can't take public transportation to get where she needs to go. As an English aristo, she may encounter trouble with the common folk but her glass cut accent ought to protect her when she's with the RIC or other British authorities.
