New interview from Entertainment Weekly with Andrea Navedo about the mid-season finale. Some very juicy tidbits concerning j/m:

Christmas is going to be a blast with baby Mateo in the mix. What kind of Christmas traditions will we see take place in this episode?
We have one related to the ornament we put Christmas tree. You know how everyone has their special ornaments, something that holds a lot of memory, meaning and history that they put on top of the tree? The Villanueva women have something that embodies all of those things that’s tied in with that Christmas tree tradition. It has to do with Alba’s husband, Mateo Sr.

By the looks of the trailer for the episode, it looks like Jane and Rafael aren’t exactly experiencing holiday cheer.
Well, the Christmas tradition I just mentioned rekindles something between Jane and Michael.

Does it have anything to do with Rafael paying someone to rat on Michael?
It definitely has something to do with that. You know, there’s some shady business going on and Jane is not having it.

How does Xo feel about that?
Mom’s stance is that she’ll support whatever Jane wants. Of course, I’m Team Michael, so I don’t mind when Michael does something so amazing that it makes Jane want to be with him.

I love how much she has always been on Team Michael. And she didn't really mention that Xo herself had changed her stance from Team Michael either so that gives me hope

I'm also hoping that the 'when Michael does something so amazing...' part implies that there may be more of Michael doing amazing things on the cards. I mean, 'Michael doing something so amazing' is the best kind of Michael tbh

Most of the cast is Team Michael I think, which I used to hate (because I shipped JR at the time

) but now I think it's awesome.

So excited for the new ep tonight! It feels like it's been forever since a new episode. And I'm even more excited because of what Andrea said in the EW article. We can pretty much count on some interaction between Jane and Michael, even if it's only a flashback. I think they will probably have a present-day scene as well, but I get really excited about flashbacks because they are always so adorable and affectionate.

I'm with you guys. So excited for the new ep!

Especially with what Andrea said. It's really given me something to look forward to

I wasn't really expecting much in the Jane/Michael department before now and so it's really upped my anticipation a ton

I agree about the flashback, as well. With what Andrea said about the Christmas tradition being about history & memory and it leading to a connection between Jane and Michael, I'm thinking another j/m flashback is in store

They're always gold

I can't believe we made it through these 3 weeks, though. It's dragged like hell

Now I just hope we get enough Jane/Michael goodies to last us until the mid-season premier, since that'll be an even longer wait

Can't wait for tonight, & it's good to see this thread so active again

Another thing the flashbacks accomplish is to show that Jane and Michael still think about the times they were together, and that the memories are happy and sweet and significant. There was never really a time when they weren't happy together, which makes it even harder to see them apart. If we do see a flashback it will just be proof that Jane STILL can't stop thinking about him and remembering him affectionately, even after she has tried to move on and he has said he's moved on.
