I don't think it's playing anywhere on Delmarva, but then I haven't looked into it either. It's one of those movies I can wait for the DVD to see, and I'll probably just FF to DL's scenes. I saw that whole business with DR go down when it happened, so I'm not really interested in the story. *shrugs*

Love these pics. *happy sigh* But, in that first pic, is he sitting "Indian style" in the chair -- wearing a suit? It looks like you can see both his shoes. *is unsure*

Hope your kiddos had fun at camp!! I remember those days. Sigh. Good times, good times. Haha.

I would be down for this beta club for Love, if she's interested. I'll be honest, I have a very difficult time with her stuff for that reason. I adore her motivation and determination and overall love for Charloe/writing, but I definitely struggle with her fics b/c of her writing style. And in her case, I know she's really trying. But as a reader, it's just difficult to work through a story when I'm distracted by the grammar/syntax/style issues.

I've thought about offering her that kind of support before but didn't know how to approach the subject since people can be really touchy about their writing, and I don't really know her that well. And also because, like you said, it'd be a bit much for just one person to handle...
Apparently the ropes course was killer and the giant swing was cool mum and A's tutor was HOT AS and S's tutor was really nice and playing with the full band was scary (S) and I"M GOING TO BE FIRST CLARINET NEXT YEAR MUM! (A)

So I'm taking that as a yes.

Re Love's stories - they do differ a little in readability; some seem easier than others, and she has definitely improved in recent months - practicing like all of us, I'm sure. One thing I really love about ESL writers actually is how the flow is quite different because the structure tends to echo their native language, with word substitutions. And if that is a romance language (which most of them are) it can add a real quality of dreaminess that works superbly for some stories.

I've been thinking about offering to beta for her for a while, and I think she'd take it reasonably well - I just can't keep up with her output by myself. (Lemon should remind me I promised to look at Housesitters for her ... and I haven't really made a start on that.)

And I had a moment of Christmas spirit and signed up for the Christmas exchange too, dammit. I really tried not to!

But anyway, on the front of his ghetto baseball cap was the Batman logo! And as soon as I saw it, I went "Nananananananananana BATMAAAAAAAN! And he turned around and looked at me with a smirk and said, "I'm Batman."

So yeah, just had to share that with y'all.
Finnie - I had a moment like this the other day too. I'm stopped at traffic lights outside this big fancy school, and I keep looking at the sign, looking at the sign and suddenly it hits me ... I'm in Ringwood, that's Yarra Valley Grammar. Where DL went to school and was captain of the hockey team

Gee, I wish I could say, "oh hey, I went past DL's old school today." like it's normal every day occurrence. Haha. That's awesome tho. Didn't know he played hockey, let alone was the captain of his team. I need more fun facts like this.

That's pretty great, Finnie.

And, no, he's not sitting Indian-style in that pic. I remember that part. They were discussing upcoming stories before all the bad stuff went down, so he's sitting with his ankle kind of propped up on his other knee. Sort of the way a lot of guys cross their legs.

As far as Love's stories go, I'm not sure if she's ever asked for help. She is always so wonderfully sweet whenever we talk, but I don't really know her well enough to know how she would take the offer. She's far braver than I could ever be as I would never even TRY writing in a language that wasn't English. I know I'd fail at it to the extreme. I'm always SO impressed by how good her writing is for a secondary language. Plus, she really is a fabulous storyteller. And something I've noticed in her more recent writing, she's gotten really good at ending a story. She always tucks some life lesson in her ender that I find really beautiful. And a few have brought me to tears because I didn't feel they only applied to the Revo world, but to the real one as well.

And hey, look at Jaq joining us for Christmas fic exchange. We wore you down, didn't we? Sometimes a little Charloe fluff and smut and happy endings are nice around the holidays.

Hahaha! I think it's just a brown chair. Would be hilarious if he was sitting Indian style tho...

This legit put a big ol' grin on my face. Very few things in life excite me as much as kids being inspired by music. I taught piano for six years (though you wouldn't know that if you heard me play now...eek! I'm SO rusty), and it was always so fulfilling to watch my students grow in their passion for music.

Well, if you do present this idea to Love (a beta club) and she's interested, let me now. I'm happy to help her if she wants. But, like you, I probably can't invest a huge amount of time because she does have a tendency to churn out fics pretty rapidly.

You signed up for the Xmas exchange?! This makes me happy.

OK, I realize this is field hockey and not ice hockey, but as a gigantic ice hockey fan, I STILL love hearing this.

I got my car fixed at Lyons Panelbeaters too, and even though I am notoriously reluctant to ask impertinent questions about celebrities (it's a weird Australian thing) I came SO close to asking if the company had anything to do with David Lyons the actor, once

Nothing can beat that pic I've seen of him wearing a wetsuit ... but grubby sports gear has its own sexy

Hey, you never know!

My favorite coffee shop here is called the Lyons Den. I've always been curious about the name, but I suspect it has nothing to do with Dave.

Yeah, I would never have the guts to ask anything like that either. I'd just sit back and make up my own story about it in my head. Imagine that maybe he was related and could just walk in one day.

I agree. Love has incredible talent and such a way with words, even if English isn't her native language. She always captivates me the way she pours her heart and soul into the story and elicits all these emotions from the reader. And I love the little life lessons she gives. It's one of the things that draws me to her stories the most, cuz she always thinks of how the situations in the story pertains to real life. It's sort of her trademark. And she's very receptive when given reviews and is always grateful for them. I adore her. Her stories are some of my faves by far!

I need to call it a night guys - someone has to cook dinner for these munchkins and I told the husband I'd make trifle to welcome them home, so better get on top of that. Have good weeks, and thanks for the kind words about my new story
