I agree Vered, it would have been a very tough decision to make, he was still in love with Brian, but knowing Brian would reciprocate there was nothing more he could do

Both times Justin left were so sad but somehow I feel that in 219 Justin would have stayed if Brian would have said something while in S5 it seemes like Justin felt it's the end of the road and Brian didn't even try to stop him

I don't think Justin looked relieved either. I think he was defeated, he was a guy who had lost hope, who was giving Brian another chance to stop him from going, but at the same time he wasn't believing in it either and infact he had his stuff packed already.

I wish Brian had said something, because in that moment he knew how much he loved Justin, he knew things wouldn't be the same, much more than he did in S2, when Justin left the first time.

i guess i found it otherwise, mainly because relief the way i saw it was like justin finally on his own volition really stood up for what he believed- he believed he cannot continue any longer with brian's style of having an open relationship, and the way i saw it justin did lift pressures not only on himself in finding ways or explaining any longer to brian but also lift pressures on brian giving in to what the other wanted. but in a way, both of them believed there's no sense sacrificing a whole lot of one's self just to make the other happy.

in real life tho the kinds of things they went thru are believable. i was just happy to see them not fight in the end.

Justin obviously felt he had enough and wanted more than open relationship but when he left in S5 I still don't think he was relieved. He was quite disappointed and felt there's no future for him and Brian.

I think a weight had been lifted off his shoulders in a way, he needed to do something as he knew they couldn't go on like that forever but I think he would have been more relieved if Brian had told him how he felt and that he wanted him to stay.

if only brian said the words "i care" like when he told justin's mom he cared about justin just when justin's mom asked him to leave in early season 2. maybe those two little words couldve shown justin brian did care for him and not shown that "doesnt care" attitude. but yes in the end he cared but not cared enough to compromise. i guess brian was a no-compromise kind of person even when it hurt.

I'm still not sure if a weight has been lifted from Justin's shoulders in 507, tbh. He took a brave decision to leave and he stood by it but I can't say he was relieved and content. On the contrary.

In 511, after the ILY there's definitelly a sense of relife despite the sad circumstances.In that scene it's clear to see that a huge weight has been lifted off Justin and Brian's shoulders

It's not that he didn't want to compromise it's just that he was too afraid.

It's possible that he was kinda relieved that it didn't end bad... that there was no discussion or fighting or something. But that feelings was probably gone when he overheard the fight between Michael and Brian.
