justin in his ratty apartment
brian drowning his sorrows with drinks when justin dumped him for ethan

The two break ups were definitelly very sad for B/J and for B/J fans.

I guess that after the first break up B/J realized they needed to communicate more and try to keep a more balanced relationship and they actually did quite well for a while but in mid S5 when things went out of control again it was even more frustrating because things went backwards instead of forward and it was as if their story is over.

watching the break-up in season 5 I always keep thinking about the fans watching the episodes when they first aired.
What did they think back then?

That's the good thing with watching later on...you don't have a long wait between episodes. That was another long night watching to see what happened...I already knew about the bombing, but didn't know about "I love you"

the waiting between seasons must have been horrible, but the waiting between episodes just as bad

I was lucky enough to watch the pilot on tv here almost at the same time it aired originally in the US and I was totally stunned by B/J, esp since the first QaF scene I ever watched was Justin's first time. It was actually before I knew anything about them. Years later I watched the rest on YT first and that's when I discovered their full story which I then kept rewatching on my DVD's.

I didn't have to wait long between eps but even so I guess I always had faith in the writers that they wouldn't go too far with the hardships B/J had to endure, esp the breakups.

Even 513 is not the end of the road for them, imo

Especially with how season 1 ended I wouldn't have wanted to wait so long for season 2.

was that the 507 breakup? that one was really sad, B looked so defeated, J looked relieved.

I agree Brian looked somewhat defeated but I actually don't feel as though Justin looked relieved when he told Brian he decided to leave him

His spech was very touching and honest but it didn't seem as though it was an easy decision for him. I think he wished he didn't have to leave this time but he felt things are not moving in the right direction.

In 510, on the other hand, after the ILY both of them seemed quite relieved, despite the dramatic events, because Brian was finally able to express his own feelings and Justin couldn't believe he's actually hearing that
