The fact Lotelai has to plead her case on asking Chris to come through for Rory, is just really sad, showing how he could never be relied on.

It is. They expected disappointment and were very surprised the times he came through.

Yep, just so very sad that being disappointed is what they expected of him.

Of course, Chris lives up to this until the very end, by not being there for them when Richard was in the hospital. He never could change. Always putting himself first.

And Lorelai even tells him that part of her wasn't surprised when he didn't show up. It's who he is.

Apart from season 7 I don't even look at him as anything more than a bit part. Sometimes I forget he's even IN the show.

Yeah, he was just a bit part who showed up to cause drama. I mean, there is that stretch of almost two full seasons worth of episodes where he doesn't make an apperance at all and is mentioned maybe, only 3 or 4 times? Showing how unnecessary his character really is. So it's jarring to have him there for half a season in season 7. Felt out of place and not right. Which I guess is the point - we're supposed to feel it's not right and feel weirded out by him being there/with Lorelai. Which makes me laugh when Chris stans claim that this felt soooooo right and their relationship was just perfect and that they were soooooo in love! What fkn show were you watching?

Eh, let them think whatever they want to think. We all connect with characters in different ways. I never saw Chris as any kind of substantial character, only a foil to LL's happiness. Once Lorelai had seen the light and gotten Chris out of her system, LL were free to get their well-deserved HEA.

Oh he definitely wasn't substantial, which is why it's so absurd to think he and Lorelai were going to end up together. He was a plot device. Even ASP said she brought him back to cause drama between Luke and Lorelai. He was an obsticle on the LL highway, nothing more. It wasn't a love triangle because it was all LL. Chris was just a thorn on the side that finally went away for good.

He really did nothing. He couldn't even do something so simple and be a dad, be there for his kid. He's forever selfish and the worst.
