This pandemic has really brought out of the woodwork some of our most deplorable people here in the U.S. I was watching The View today, and they were interviewing a nurse who said that protesters come up to her and other health workers and literally cough in their faces because they believe the virus is a hoax. It broke my heart.



My mom has been in good spirits lately, working from home and everything, but she's watching the news a lot, and I don't think that's helping her anxiety. She got on this kick about me taking a Vitamin D supplement today because she saw something on Dr. Oz about how Vitamin D helps combat Covid-19.

Everyone should limit their "intake" of news it's too depressing - I have not watch much news lately - I am reading the news - but even that is limited.

Isn't Doctor Oz a hack? Unfortunately, he still has influence on quite a number of people.

Yeah, I told her to stop watching him. Hopefully she does.

I took part in a survey of my congressional district--all about the government's response to the virus, suggestions moving forward--and got the results today. Not pleased. About half the people surveyed felt the government has handled this poorly. Only HALF. I think something like 17% of the people surveyed actually said the government has handled it well. And there were some comments from people who took the survey, such as "Give me back my God-given freedoms!" and "I need a haircut and a meal from my favorite steakhouse." I mean . . . it wasn't all bad, though. Living in a very Republican area, I'm glad that the results weren't quite as extreme as I thought they would be.

I'm really struggling a bit lately. Between the real-world stress and fandom stress, I just feel it taking a toll. And I feel like it's so silly to even be stressed out by fandom stuff with all this other stuff going on, but I am. Today, I just had to get offline and basically sleep all afternoon, just to try to feel better.

April are you allowed to go outside for walks? Because for me going for a long walk really helps

Yeah, the fandom stuff is draining me too and being on Twitter doesn't help. It's probably one of those times we have to take a step back if it's better for us mentally.

Twitter is too draining for me. If it's not about Conageddon, my fic, Bob, or Eliza, I'm probably going to try to just stay out of it. (I say that, but then once the premiere airs, I might tweet something. Who knows?)

Yeah, we never even had an official stay at home order here. Which probably helps us avoid the very scary protests that we're seeing in other states, but it's nerve-racking because you have to rely on people hopefully having common sense to stop the spread. I'm not one for going for walks, though. I tried to get into that a few years back and just couldn't.


I literally just broke down and cried last night for the weirdest reason. I was watching some cute animal videos on Twitter, and I saw this video of a little tiny pig sitting with its owner, all wrapped up in a blanket, getting brushed, and it was just making these little noises and being so adorable. And I just started wondering, Why can't every person in the world be that sweet? Why can't every person in the world be that peaceful and content? I just feel so disheartened by so many of the things I'm seeing happening in my country right now. I'm someone who really does believe that most people are fundamentally good, and I always try to see the best in a person, but the things I've seen and heard lately just make it really hard. And I don't wanna start believing that people are fundamentally cruel and hateful. It scares me to even start to feel a shift in my own mindset. I want to believe that most people are sweet and kind. Like that little pig.

It probably sounds ridiculous that such a video would get this kind of reaction out of me, but . . . it just did.

I get that, April. Sometimes, when things feel really crappy, a cute animal video just does the trick ... best therapy ever.
