I wish I could work from home - it'd certainly help my anxiety.

I'm about to leave for Flint to spend the night at my old roommate's house (it's her birthday) and tomorrow we leave before the sun rises to head to Chicago for her bachelorette party!

Yea - it definitely does wonders for mine. I get anxiety anytime I know I have to travel somewhere - by car, train or whatever. And driving anywhere makes me tense, so, that's a big part of the joy of WFH - knowing I don't have to commute.

Have a great time!

Whenever I hear Flint, I remember that the guy my mom dated before she married my dad was from Flint. Curiously, both men had the same first name, Ray. Mom somehow found the guy again after she'd been married for 20 years and they wrote letters back and forth for years. Just once or twice a year, and definitely just friends - but I always thought it was sort of sweet.

I think this is the first time in years I've read "whenever I hear Flint" and it's not about the water.

Up until a couple of years ago I hardly ever heard Flint. Lately I've heard it a lot of course, and I kinda wonder if mom's friend is still alive. He'd be about 90.

Yeah where I grew up it was a fairly normal and familiar place, since we're only about an hour away.

I did finally go see Hidden Figures and it was amazing. What made it more so for me is that I lived very close to Langley for four years when I was a young teen and my best friend's dad was an Air Force pilot there. Either they filmed the actual buildings at Langley or they did a great job of recreating them, because I recognized them instantly.

What those ladies did was incredible, especially given the time. When I was living there, from 1968 - 1972, the "Colored" and "White" signs were pretty much gone, but the schools were still segregated. In my sophomore year, the school boards were ordered to use busing to integrate the schools.

I'm so glad that you liked it! I was telling some of of Emilie's aunts about it this weekend (they wanted to know if it lived up to the hype.)

I also finally saw Hidden Figures this weekend! What a fantastic movie. I loved it so much

Also, Heidi, that's so neat that you have that connection to Langley.

I've come down with a cold or something. Coughing my head off. I called up my big brother and told him it was his fault because if you can't blame something on your big brother, who can you blame it on?

I have no big brother and I've been blaming Donald Trump for everything lately.

If I blamed Donald Trump for my cold that might imply things I don't even want to think about.

Eh, people were doing 'thanks Obama' for 8 years for things that made no sense, I can do this with Trump now.

Yesterday the high temp was 70F. Today, it's been right around freezing almost all day. Is it any wonder that me and half my co-workers are sick?

That's gross.

We've been cold here...but we had like a 12 hour warming period so all the snow melted and the ground got squishy but then we plunged into another deep freeze so now the ground is hard and slippery.

Last Saturday the high was 51 and on Sunday it was 70. Then in just this week we've gone from mid 70s to mid/high 80s to high 60s and back to high 70s. It's a mess.
