So do I. The sewer and water have been marked, but we're still waiting for the electrical and natural gas lines to be identified.

I need to get out to the store later. Otherwise don't have a lot on my agenda for today.

My tomatoes, potatoes and mini cucumbers are growing nicely at my allotment so I hope to have a good harvest soon.

Home grown tomatoes always have a lot more flavour than ones bought in the store.

mmm, my mom has a small garden in the yard and grows tomatoes and garlic. The tomatoes do taste lovely!

They are the perfect summer food, I think, the cool juice, crunching them, really refreshing feeling!

I have snow in my icon just cause I’m so sick of our summer weather here. Heat that goes almost up to 100’s or in the 90’s F, and on top of that, there is no really bad air cause the smoke from forest fires have reach us. Its just too warm and too hazy. Looking forward to fall.

Leanne - I was wondering if your wintery icon made you feel like it wasn't so hot out. We've had hot weather here too, but it's finally cooled down a bit.

Julie - how much longer do you think until your tomatoes are ripe?

I just recently discovered that you can just wash and freeze fresh tomatoes if you're planning to use them for cooking. I always thought you had to blanch them to freeze them.

I hope the weather changes for you soon, Leanne.

Chris, I don't know how long it will take for my tomatoes to ripen. They are still small so it might be a while.

That's a good tip for freezing tomatoes.

Just did a grocery store run. Decided to buy an eggplant. Now I've got to figure out what to do with it.

I have just harvested an aubergine (eggplant) at my allotment. It was a surprise because it was hiding behind a leaf. It must have grown a lot in the last few days because I'm sure it wasn't there last week.

I will slice it and roast it in olive oil and salt and pepper. I love roasted veg.

hmm ... maybe I'll try that next time. Although I quite enjoyed the eggplant/aubergine topped with a slice of tomato and parmesan cheese, then baked to melt the cheese. Do you eat the skin? Most recipes called for it to be peeled, so I peeled mine.

Oooh, I should try aubergine with tomato and parmesan.

I never peel aubergine.

Some shapes of vegetables makes me wonder how you cut them up and cook them for eating!

Eggplant is just an unpleasant name, I think
