Star Trek XI Blu-ray Details - TrekToday

Quote:
Extras slated for the Blu-Ray Star Trek XI release include: Audio commentary by J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burke, Alex Kurtzman, Damon Lindelof and Roberto Orci; ten featurettes; a gag reel; trailers; Star Trek: D-A-C demo (trailer) for XBOX 360, and deleted scenes.

Fans will definitely be interested in the nine deleted scenes. They include: Spock's birth, the capture of the Narada by the Klingons, Kirk's family (Young Kirk, Johnny and Uncle Frank,) Nero's interrogation and escape from prison, Sarek and Amanda, Bedroom and Kobayashi Maru (original version,) Kirk apologizing to Gaila and Sarek seeing Spock Prime.

Amazon Germany has the release date for Star Trek XI as October 5th, which is probably accurate for a European release. Expect the U.S. release sometime in October or November.
The gag reel should be good. Kirk apologizing to Gaila should be interesting to watch. Also looking forward to seeing a bit more of Nero.

From June 24 : Star Trek XI Now Biggest Trek Movie - TrekToday

Quote:
Adjusted for inflation, Star Trek XI has now pulled ahead of the next highest grossing Star Trek film.

As reported by Airlock Alpha, Tuesday's domestic take of $538,205 was enough to catapult Star Trek XI over Star Trek: The Motion Picture, to take the title of the original highest grossing Star Trek film.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture earned $82.3 million in 1979, which would equate to about $240.9 million today. Star Trek XI's domestic earnings stand at $241,361,911 as of yesterday.

Star Trek XI is expected to conclude its run earning almost $250 million dollars in domestic sales, far surpassing the last Star Trek movie (Star Trek: Nemesis) which earned $43.1 million back in 2002.

So all those extras are on the Blu-Ray what about the 'normal' DVD for those of us not with a new player?

Nowadays it's usually the same time to get ahead of piracy.

Haven't seen anything about that yet. I'm in the same boat. Just getting a decent DVD collection so I'm in no hurry to switch to another format.

I'm also wondering when it comes out here, in Australia.

Before Christmas I guess...

Not sure I'll watch it that many times, but I'm definitely looking forward to seeing it again.

I'd hope so. I'd think that they'd lose out on a lot of potential sales if they don't time it for Christmas gift giving.

I found a local DVD supplier but they have it listed as coming soon, with very little detail on the content and format. I guess what ever they release in the US is what the rest of the world will get.

It's common now to have the single DVD with just the movie and very few is any extras, then the double DVD with all the extras and then the Blu-Ray which may have additional extras.

Thanks for bringing that over.

I'll be some disappointed if the DVD doesn't have much in the way of extras.
