"Star Trek" movies - general discussion.

I'm surprised there isn't a thread for the best or maybe worst Star Trek movie.

But to start it off, my favorite is the The Wrath of Khan.
Not sure about the worse. But i can say maybe Star Trek: The Motion Picture was in between. For one it was kind of confusing, and the best part was the soundtrack.

Any others anyone?

Worst: Nemesis, horrible, horrible movie.

Best: First Contact, with Wrath of Kahn, and Undiscovered Country close second and third.

Valerie, there was a thread at one point, but apparently it's been pruned. Thanks for starting this one.

Further info about the movies is available here

Star Trek: The Motion Picture
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan
Star Trek III: The Search for Spock
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
Star Trek: Generations
Star Trek: First Contact
Star Trek: Insurrection
Star Trek: Nemesis

'Wrath of Khan' was a good one. The scene where Khan put the Ceti eel into Chekov's ear gave me nightmares ... I liked 'Insurrection' too.

As to least favourite ... I wasn't overly impressed with 'Nemesis'.

Pruned.

But your welcome and thanks for the link to the Star Trek website.

And seems like from other reviews that Nemesis was the worst of all the Star Trek movies. And some say it will probably be their last.

Since they aren't planning any next generation movies... do you think there is any chance of a movie based on the other casts?

Right now, personally, I doubt it. Nemesis didn't do well, and Enterprise isn't exactly a hit in the ratings department at the moment. Maybe if Enterprise picks up viewers, they'll consider it.

I've always wondered if the cast from DS9 will ever be the stars of the next Stars Trek movie.

I read that DS9 had the lowest ratings of all the series. But I know folks who think it is the best. That one ended almost like a cliff hanger to me... would have loved to see what's next.

Yes Devon, 'Voyage Home' was the one with the whales. I enjoyed that one too. Especially when they were trying to blend in in San Fransico.

I thought all of the movies were on DVD. I'll have to check and get back to you about a Special Edition.

A Special Edition was released last March, but it's only available in Canada and the US at this time.

Kirk "Now everbody remember where we parked.".
Well as DVDs still cost so much, I usually go with Special Editions. But I think Voyage Home is worth waiting for. I've been meaning to get some Star Trek DVDs but I have only so much to spend on them and new 'must-have' films keep popping up, or the lastest one for kids, which I usually have to buy immediately or I have a group of grumpy children on my hands. Valerie I hate it when I put off buying something then the price goes up. Maybe it will go on sale again.

I hope so. At least I still have the movie (letterbox, too ) from which I taped when it came on Turner Classic Movies a couple of years ago. But I want to see the behind the scenes goodies.

And too all who loved "The Voyage Home", I too loved the movie. And yes, the best part were the whales.
