That's another thing that triggers a 'weren't they on this show before' sort of mentality is I can be watching but still doing other things and I hear a certain voice on the show.
Some actors have a distinct sound that you just know, and that's how I'd recognized a few past guest appearances that appeared on SVU or another of the L&O. |

Yes. Very true that. Especially when you're familiar with a voice or they've got a distinct sound.
I found it funny that his appearance was in the Alex ep I like. How did I forget it? ETA: Put on the next two eps from Sunday & now I've found Henry Winkler. There is a recognizable voice to me. __________________

I recall hearing Wentworth Miller's voice on his first episode because I was a huge Prison Break fan so I'd come to KNOW his voice. Then when he reappeared I was excited but then like wait, what, not the same character.
