Thanks, Carmen. It was Patty's idea (Mysterious Island Girl). Hope to see her here this evening.

what's the idea for this thread? are we going by episode, adding the Grimm tale, and then the actual tale

Yes, probably that going forward; although we will very likely want to discuss some of the previous episode stories as well.

yeah, so like start in season one what the Grimm spin on it was, and what it's originally like. Ooo can we get all, if nit most of the opening quotes to the episodes. I really like trying to guess what take it'll be from them

I think the wikia has most of those. I'll check it out when time permits - or you can, if you like!

We also have dedicated threads for Season 1 and Season 2 that might be more appropriate for some of these discussions. I plan to compile a list of episodes for each.

So does anyone have a Grimm fairy tale or myth that would like to see on the show?

I loved to see one of the most famous myths of my culture on the show in la Llorona;and I was watching a Discovery show last night about a modern myth that I ddin't know it was also popular in the states. Have you heard about Chupacabra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tho the glowing wesen mythology kinda remained me of it.

One of the things we can talk about is the historical perspectives they've included in the Grimm tales they tell each week; until someone tells the actual stories the episodes are based on.

I've seen that the Wesen are behind some of the events that took place in the early 20th century. They created the Weimer Republic; which lead to a Wesen being able to take and be given power in Germany to create the Third Reich (Hitler); with the help of the Coins of Zakynthos after the defeat of Germany in the following war; which stripped the Wesen Royals of their main powers (WWI). Now; it appears that with the 100th anniversary of the First World War coming up; the Royals must be stepping it up to get their main powers back to celebrate this anniversary and end democracy once again. They already made plans to disband the European Union; but what would this mean for the US if it succeeded? The US is now still the main power in the world; with China stepping it up now; and Europe is no longer the world power it once was. This power shift changed hands during WWII.

I had a latina student who told me all about La Llorona. I heard about her in the movie "Frida". My student told me that la Llorona is a witch who comes at midnight and takes children away. Then when I saw this story on Grimm, it followed what he told me so very closely. I was hooked on the mythology behind the stories.

BWM, Brian, awsome post. I am so interested in this as well.
Looking forward to conversing with you on that.

From a quick read of the wiki, I'd say Chupacabra is a top candidate for a Grimm creature. Do you know the bogeyman, El Cucuy, Karla .. ?

Spoiler:

Brian, your post raises all sorts of potential discussion! We're talking Raiders of the Lost Ark territory!
