Right before every episode's brief recap, Emma questions her perseverance -- "Put your feet in my shoes, how long can you keep up the lying game?" Now we've got the answer -- one season and five episodes!

True, Emma has had a conflict with keeping this secret from the start. It was only the danger the twins were in that kept her quiet this long. Now she finds the danger may be a figment, or coming from her mother and sister. Laurel's injury is now part of the danger. So for her own sake, and for the Mercer's, Laurel has to be in on the secret. I don't know how long it will be til the whole lie is exposed. Emma doesn't even know the father part yet.

I don't see how you could blame Emma for Laurel's injury. Any more than Mads or Ethan. Sutton is the only one who could have acted her role better, instead of flagrantly arousing suspicion, or made some excuse to Laurel to keep her in line,, or actually decided to tell her the truth.

I only say that because of how many times Emma has wanted to tell Laurel the truth, and if she had just told her, Laurel wouldn't have been following Sutton and wouldn't have fallen off the wall. Eh. I guess it's too complicated to think about it that way.

I'm not sure that would work either. Even if Laurel knew the truth, she was getting suspicious of Sutton trying to break up the parents, and she was suspicious of her brushing Ethan off, and would have followed her to see what she was up to!

It was like Sutton doesn't want Emma to be known but at the same time, she wasn't even trying to hide anymore either.

Yes, I think Sutton is ready to let the whole secret out, she has her mother and Ethan, and that is all she wanted. Now letting the secret out will make Rebecca happy by destroying Ted and Kristin.

In the perfect world, it would be Kristin & Emma and Rebecca & Sutton, but Rebecca won't stop at anything to destroy Kristin.
 I bet Emma would take Kristin's side over Rebecca's any day! Esp. now that she knows Rebecca has been plotting behind her back. |

But even at the hospital, Sutton was possessive of the Mercer's as 'her' family, and trying to get rid of Emma. I think Sutton is still torn.
