More than likely and he has had a lot of time to think so maybe he realized the sorcerer played him and wants to confront him and force him to stop giving people un happy endings as well as trying to convince Belle he truly loves and needs her. He is still wearing his wedding ring so I think she is a big part of why he wants to come back and why he is after the sorcerer.

The Dark One mythology/mystery is one of the most interesting things they've come up with on this show; I wish they'd flesh it out more. A curse going back hundreds if not thousands of years; this is epic stuff.

The top right gif is the Rumple I like! All Dark and in control. I actually loved his relationship with Lacey.

For me personally, Rumple was never more himself than when he was with Lacey. She didn;t try to change him, she saw him for all the darkness he had and accepted it. She even found it a turn on. I loved that. Lacey was the perfect mirror companion for Rumplestiltskin.

I always thought of Lacey as the antithesis of Belle. I think Regina made her the complete opposite thinking Rumple and Lacey would never be true love unlike the others who had their weaknesses amplified. True love wins out because Lacey was definitely attracted to Rumple, his dark side that is. I didn't like Lacey because she seemed cold and shallow to me. She drank to much and hung out with abusive guys like Keith. I can't say I wasn't happy to see her gone but I always felt Lacey was the perfect match for the Dark one part of Rumple and Belle is the perfect match for the human part. I hope this season, both parts of Belle align themselves because there are things about Lacey I wish Belle kept and vice versa. I think it would benefit both of them. It would do Rumple good to have someone who can love both parts of him and for Belle to not be seen as an angel on a pedestal.

Everyone has darkness in them. Lacey was the side of Belle that was selfish and shallow and walked on the wild side. I like her more at this point for the simple fact she never would have done to Rmple what Belle did; Banish him.
