Again, this is why I refer to CW as a bubble-gum network. Seriously, TVD? Nikita is a tough as nails action spy drama. Malex? Seriously?

I always suspected that they brought in Sean in season two for this reason. He certainly fits the CW demographic.

I won't say I'm totally against love stories in this show. After all I had hopes for Thalex, my OTP. The point is in HOW they insert and write these things in shows that aren't romantic at first place (like GG was, for example. And they did an awful job in that, even).

Malex was REALLLy big for a while there

I always wondered if that was because a lot of the younger viewers from tvd were expecting similar triangles with Nikita. I'm not against romance at all,but I am glad that Nikita bucks the CW trend and refuses to do love triangles

Or probably that was because when there's a new series, usually audience looks for a new couple to ship and more is this couple difficult, more the audience roots for it

I fell in love for the spy stuff, but maybe those people were looking only for a new couple to ship.

See, I never look for a couple to ship when it comes to watching a TV show. I look for a great story first, then see if that story has produced a couple worth shipping.

And often I don't even ship the couple that everyone else does. I don't ship the coolest couples or the most popular couples......I ship who I feel are the right ones.

I know they were popular (and still are) with alot of people but I never saw Malex as a romantic couple. I always saw a close friendship with them, kind of like kindred spirits...even a brother/sister type relationship. And honestly I think she reminded him more of Nikita than anything. A point that came up alot in the first season.

Same. But a lot of people during season 1, insisted on the fact that they could be a couple, because there was sexual tension and that he could fall in love with her, but not because she reminded him Nikita people were like: she's Alex! Not nikita! They're different! And even if Alex might remind him Nikita, he'll learn that she's different and will feel something for her.

I remember it was a lot o "pov matter"

Malex shippers said that their looks and Michael's behaviour towards her weren't at all "friendship/brother" like, but Mikita shippers - or also simple viewers - said that it wasn't true

Malex also insulted Shane on Twitter because in one interview he had spoken against a romantic Malex idea, saying that Michael couldn't fall in love with her because otherwise he would have looked like the man who always fall in love with the recruits, that this would have cheapened Mikita's story, that he was totally contrary at the idea of Malex and stuff like that.
