Favorite Earth-Born Male Character




This is just, like, such an obvious decision to me, almost as obvious as my Day 2.
Of course Lincoln is my favorite grounder. Again, he's one of the few I can stand.
Lincoln totally freaked me out when I first saw him on screen, due to his large
stature and overall intimidating presence. But I also thought he was so very hot.
So I guess Octavia and I had that in common. But it quickly became apparent
that there was much more to Lincoln than met the eye and that I shouldn't be
so quick to judge him. I cannot emphasize enough how important this character
is to the show. He allowed us to put a face to the grounders, who were so very
brutal at that point. (Their season one actions are still a major reason why I will
never consider myself a grounder fan.) Lincoln, though, as other people pointed
out, was that man who went against his own culture, in a way. He didn't believe
in or want the violence that they were enacting against Skaikru. He didn't want
that for his people or himself. His relationship with Octavia also symbolized the
possibility and hope for unity between grounders and Skaikru, and sadly, that's
a unity that has yet to be achieved. And lastly, I cannot overlook Lincoln's role
as yet another character who plays against gender norms and expectations on
this show. He is a big strong male who is also super sensitive, kind, peaceful,
and who is a healer. The show is so often praised for the unconventional ways
it presents its female characters, but I believe what it does with the males is
equally as important, especially in a day and age where male stereotypes are
so rigid. Lincoln shows that being a man doesn't mean being violent and cruel.

Day 3 - Favorite Earth-born female character
Indra kom Trikru

She started out as really only caring about her own people.
Being badass and not interested in any SkaiKru at all.
But I feel like she was humanized so much throughout the series.
Through Octavia, through Kane, but also own her account,
for example when she didn't believe herself to be a worthy
warrior anymore. I really love that we got to see more and more
of her and I hope we get a lot more next season
