Thanks for the news!
It's good to hear they get a full season, that leaves them with enough time to really develop the characters/show __________________

I hadn't realised they didn't already have that . Good for them that they do now.
I don't think CBS is giving a clear episode count for anything this season. __________________

All news shows have a initial order when picked up. Then it is up to the network to pick up additional episodes and add it to the count. Whatever it ends up being. In the past it usually if it was a full season, it was 22 to 24. Now the count is unknown.
But probably closer to a full of past years. But it really depends on the nature of the show. And we will find out later on in the year, how many it ends up being. __________________

While I realise that most , if not all, new shows have an initial order, I didn't realise that they had done that or hadn't already green lit it for a full season order. With covid they are doing things differently & being a popular franchise they may have green lit it from the start.
Honestly I think the full amount is pending covid not the individual shows. As far as I know no show has a definite amount of episodes, it is just see how it goes & hope for a full season. Presumably the aim is 23/24 episodes as that is the normal amount for the franchise. But anything can happen & cause delays in production so it is impossible to put a definite number on it. For Hawaii maybe it is a little bit of see how many stories you can write too but I also think they still would have been told a number to aim for __________________

After last night's episode. I guess we know why CBS decided to move the show from Tuesday to Monday. I cannot see the show having more than this season. Unless viewers take to the new direction.
It helps launch a new show. One more season for the syndication rights. I might be surprised. I guess we shall see. __________________

Gibbs retiring was bound to happen at some point... Maybe the show can survive him retiring, we'll see... And if not then, it's a good thing that it was already moved to Mondays __________________

I guess what it has for it is that they have have been shifting away from Gibbs leadership on the team. And he has not been heavily featured. So, people might take to it. But I guess we shall see.
I just never expected it to be this soon. Hopefully he might be back for appearances. It will be a unique experience not to have him around at all. __________________

It possibly did influence their decision to move it, but honestly I would think that would be a good reason to have kept it on a Tuesday. I think mostly they wanted to keep FBI all together. Or Dick Wolf asked for them to be kept together. Then with all the shows they've got in one franchise it would be a juggle to work out where to put them all. Better to invest more into FBI than NCIS since NCIS is possibly on the way out (& could've been even with Mark still there), but also use NCIS to support the new NCIS too. But I don't try to understand the decisions channels make
I think the show could survive, depending on how they do it. They've actually got a decent amount of time to find their feet here too since it is only episode 4. I don't think Sean/McGee can lead the show for long though. So it all depends on what they're doing now with the team. If he'll lead or they'll try someone else. But I could also be surprised about Sean/McGee too The link I tried to post in this thread last night but completely miss aimed & ended up in the OT thread - News Regarding Mark Harmon (this is posted in the Mark thread too) Note: Article contains spoilers for this week's episode - only read it in full if you've seen the episode (or don't mind spoilers ) __________________

NO one really knows what is going to happen. It's a total crap shoot to know whether the show can survive without Gibbs in any capacity. They have shown that they can do the case, but Gibbs was around in some capacity. But if the show gets back to normal cases. But the fact there have been so many cast changes. Sloane, Bishop, and now Gibbs. Will people stick around.
If Bishop were still around? With Tim and Nick only the only familiar main character for the team. Will people respond. I like Knight. She's a fresh vehicle so the show can have a life to it if they are able to succeed. We do not know anything about her... I will continue to watch. Oh I think Wolfe demanded that the three shows air together. And because his other shows had Wednesday or wherever they air. CBS might not have much choice but to keep FBI and make it Tuesday. So that Wolf shows didn't compete against each other. But knowing Harmon was going to be leaving. It was easier. Launching a new show. And if the show sinks and only has this season. One extra season for syndication. And it gives more eyeballs to Hawai'i. And knowing LA does have not many more seasons. It needed a new show to keep the franchise going. So, I guess we shall see what happens. I actually think McGee has grown into a capable leader. But they will probably bring in Parker now to help the team, and give it some authority because he now has been fired from his other job. __________________

Like a few others here, I haven't seen the episode, & also have no idea what they have planned. I am simply responding to what I read in the article & know from the previous season. I can't speak to what the show will be like & I am not going to speculate on it either. Shows can surprise you & personally I am not writing the show off simply because Mark left. I understand many others will. This is a gamble for the show & I wish them luck pulling it off. I am glad they have the time to work it out & see if it works though.
My comment about McGee leading isn't about his leadership skills for the team so much as being strong enough to lead the show __________________

Sad. RIP. Such a memorable character. Wonder if the show knew he was sick and that is why they dealt with the character the way they did last season.
And about NCIS. It's a gamble. I think it can go both ways. I wish they would have just ended the show instead of continuing it without Mark. If Michael's Tony was still around. He is a powerful draw as a character. Tim has certainly grown as a character, and as a leader. But even he admits that he does not like being leader, and was looking forward to Gibbs returning. And about the lead of the show. I expect the show was not expecting that of Sean since they hired Gary Cole this season. If they thought that Sean would take over leadership, they would not. Although I guess we shall see how it takes the transition. Hopefully it goes back to the normal type of cases. And starts to flesh out Jessica. __________________

There have been a few centric McGee episodes. But not as many in the last few years. But then so much is known now about McGee, down to his tapdancing love. If the show lasts until 20. He will overtake Mark for the longest character of NCIS. But he only was in a few episodes starting around episode 10 or so in Season 1.
But still we know a lot. He's stable. He had Daddy issues but Daddy is dead, and he's happily married with kids. So unless they kill Delilah or one of the kids. There is not much angst with him. MacGee is the not the leader type. He's grown as one. But does not care for it. Now Tony wanted to be a leader, and would have bristled if anyone came from the the outside and superceeded him. But I do not think McGee would care, much. __________________
