I feel the same exact way, I just can't picture them in a romantic sense.

I would've liked to have a flashback of Hyde and Donna's early friendship, to see what that was like.

That would have been fun to see.

I wonder if Hyde would give Donna some surreptitious longing gazes. He'd had feelings for her a long time, and if the show hadn't decided to make Hyde a villainous foil to Eric during season 1, it could've been a sad, character-building storyline for him -- Donna choosing Eric -- instead of a character-destroying one.

That would have been sad for Hyde, but I was personally glad to see they didn't draw that storyline out over seasons.

It wasn't a true triangle, you're right, the feelings were one sided on Hyde's part.

It wasn't, I did not enjoy it at all.

What the writers needed to do was either have Donna not be 100% sure what her feelings were for Hyde and Eric -- or not have Hyde be such an idiot and jackass about Donna's obvious lack of romantic interest in him. *le sigh*

They should have just let Hyde and Donna be friends from the get go with no romantic intentions. I liked their friendship.

T7S's creators have admitted in interviews (on camera and written) that they didn't actually know who Hyde's character was beyond being a conspiracy nut. DM gave Hyde his sarcasm and burning nature, apparently. Then Philip Stark wrote "Prom Night," which created a core of compassion in Hyde. He also wrote "Cat Fight Club," which further developed Hyde's compassion and his character altogether. He wrote "Whole Lotta Love," too, () and "Christmas" (), and the atrocious "Squeeze Box" and "Down the Road Apiece," both episodes where Hyde is horribly OOC. I don't know why writers can't keep their own characters consistent. Aaaand he wrote the Jackie/Fez ep "My Fairy King" in S8. __________________
