Well it's not creepy when we do it.

It's also not creepy that we wished we could see even more private J/H doings. So ... Hyde and Donna? I like that in S2, even though Hyde clearly had some lingering feelings for Donna, as evidenced in "Red's Birthday" (210), he helped her with her relationship with Eric. That's how real!Hyde always would've behaved, tbh. He would've had the awareness to recognize that she was romantically interested only in Eric, and he would've gone Zen and kept his unrequited feelings to himself -- while being noble and self-sacrificing and helping Donna and Eric's relationship. __________________

After season one, I really liked their friendship. They took on more of a brother/Sister vibe.

They're definitely better as platonic friends.

I agree, I liked their scenes more once they took on the friend vibe.

I think Hyde understood Donna in a way Eric didn't -- because they're similar. They don't like to be told what to do or to be suffocated. Hyde tried to suss what was going on between her and Casey in "Everybody Loves Casey," and she got completely defensive. He was trying to reach the Donna he knows, but he was speaking to the just-trying-to-survive-emotionally Donna of S4.

I think Hyde and Donna were similar, which is why they understood each other. At the same time, I think that's a reason why a romantic relationship between them would never work out.

ITA. I can't see Hyde and Donna inspiring each other to grow and change if they were in a romantic relationship. Hyde was an important influence on Donna as a friend. Donna has some influence on Hyde -- as we saw in season 5 -- but not much. We know he loved her from his protectiveness of and compassion toward her, but I would've liked to see how Donna's friendship affected him.

I can't see them encouraging each other to grow and change either much if they were together romantically. They were both really stubborn though and I can see that being a problem.

Yeah, Hyde had a bit of pride going on -- not the same kind as Eric's -- but it kept him from communicating properly until he learned the consequences of that (end of season five -- though he seemed to have forgotten that lesson at the beginning of season six, but that's a complaint about bad writing for another time ).
Eric often backed down/apologized first -- and because Donna experienced this from him, she ended up being able to do the same thing eventually, be the first to apologize. With Hyde, though, I don't think they'd get to that point of mutual understanding as quickly ... or as peacefully. __________________

Whenever I think of Hyde and Donna being in a long-term romantic relationship, I hear their voices rising in argument. Then I see them storming off from each other. I wonder if Eric would've helped Hyde with Donna ... but then that makes me think Donna would realize the mistake she made by choosing Hyde and try to start a relationship with Eric.

Hyde and Donna really don't make any sense romantically. I see Donna and Eric eventually getting together almost no matter what.
