I think Haley's season 2 tour was a mistake. Not in the sense that she was following her dreams, more that it was written as if she was wrong to do that. I honestly think if it had been something else, such as her accepting a scholarship as I have suggested before, she wouldn't have been criticised for it. I think that was done solely to give the season a "poor Nathan" narrative that wasn't really necessary.

It would have. Especially because they highlighted her intelligence early on.

Probably stuck to her academic gifts. They introduced those for a reason.

It would have been so much better, but of course, if Nathan had objected to that, people wouldn't have been so sympathetic.

Yep, and they didn't want that.

Imo the went out of their way to make Nathan look good and Haley bad in that situation. Like they were saying "look how much he's hurting! plus she kissed Chris!" But no focus whatsoever on how freaking selfish it was of Nathan to tell her not to go for what could have been a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity. They did fix it a little bit in s3 (with Nathan encouraging her music [even her working with Chris] and saying he was proud of her). But for me, it was too little, too late. Didn't change the fact for most of s2 and 3, the narrative made Haley look bad and in need of redemption. In other words, I completely agree with this

She did. The issue wasn't Haley following her dreams and doing something she really wanted to do, tbh. The issue was her having a husband who at best was not supportive of her, or worse, resented her being successful.
