One tree Hill Rants and Raves #1-because we love this show but sometimes some things bug us

One Tree Hill Rants and Raves-anyone like the earlier seasons better than the later ones? and did anyone not really like nathan and haley after season 1? or didn't like the change from focusing on the brothers nathan and lucas to a soap opera bunch of relationships? did anyone not like when lucas left?

Personally, I didn't like haley in season 2 after what she did with Chris. I feel like nathan and hlaey got married too young, and once their relationship started going downhill because of haley cheating, it wasn't as good. they could have put brooke and nathan together at that time.

I didn't like how the last seasons became mainly about Brooke. It felt like One Brooke Hill and while I liked S1-S3 Brooke, I got easily annoyed with so much Brooke and Brooke/Julian since S6.

I agree with this she kind of got on my nerves from season 7 and on. I do like BJu but they were a little much in season 8

so we got some discussion going here. I don't like how the focus changed so much after season 4.

What do you mean by changed focus after season 4?

This, this, this. Imagine how hard it was for someone who never really cared or liked her, even in first seasons.

The main problem with One Tree Hill is that it lasted entirely too long. I wish it would've just ending in Season 3... although that would've been to short. So I always went with Season 4 should've closed it. The five year jump really did anything to make the show greater.

Even ending it with 6 seasons would've been decent, so the show just lasted too long in my opinion.

Oh and once Chad Michael Murray left the show, that should've been the complete end.. 7 seasons and a wrap. The show was suppose to be about basketball and the brothers Lucas and Nathan, so when Lucas leaves Tree Hill. that kind of changes a lot.

^ I agree. I admit that I was such a big fan and I really wanted the show to go on as long as it could (a part of me still wanted it after S9) hoping that the next season would be so much better, and actually be what it supposed to be about, which of course never happened. So looking at a whole picture, ending it with S4 finale would be the best, even though I think my heart would be completely broken back then.

Our hearts would've been broken but I think we would've remembered One Tree Hill is one of the greatest shows, that could've lasted long. Instead of that show that stayed on entirely too long.

Seeing the show without Peyton especially Lucas was just odd.

I'm with you, at the time I was wanting Tree Hill to keep going on after Season 4 but looking back on it, Season 4 would've been the perfect way to close the show... it closes with the brothers Nathan and Lucas going one on one in basketball, and Lucas telling Nathan he could do this forever little brother. So it would've been a great closure.

I always want S4 to be series finale bec in my opinion, that was the best finale than the rest of the finale.. Bec it actually gave the fans closure and allow the fans have their own imagination after high school..

I don't think the show's later seasons were absolutely horrible, and one thing I have to give One Tree Hill credit for is keeping interesting characters. I liked Chase, Alex, Clay, and really all the cast changes throughout the seasons. I didn't like Quinn at first, but once I realized she wasn't shady and didn't have an ulterior motive (I didn't trust her at first), she grew on me. I can't say that about other shows. There are several shows where the newbies just didn't cut it for me, 7th Heaven being a huge culprit - the newbies in season 11 were the worst.

The show could have easily ended after season 7 or season 8, though. The season 8 finale was perfect, though the season 9 finale actually made me cry.

My biggest problem with OTH was they kept reusing the stalker storyline. Like, seriously???? I can just imagine their writer's room. "Hmmm...we're all out of storylines. Who hasn't had a stalker yet?"

I didn't like Brooke, either, in the earlier seasons. Though I learned to tolerate her. I did like Brooke and Julian, though... well, I liked Julian.

Agreed! probably my favorite as well, I felt it was a satisfying ending for all Tree Hill fans, it had the great friendship moments, the great general relationships moments... and just so much happened in that episode that it would've been the perfect way to end the show, all of them at the River Walk signing the floor saying they'll all be back here.

Which is why the show should've ended before it came to that, if you have no more storylines.. and cast members are leaving, it's time to move on.
Season 7 should've been the end, they should've set it up as the last season and changed some things.

It was just weird not having Lucas on the show no more. Although I actually like Nathan way more. lol

I didn't really like Lucas tbh. He reminded me too much of an ex in the early seasons, though I loved Peyton. Oddly, Peyton reminded me a lot of myself, and I did ship Leyton and was glad they got their happy ending. It's a shame neither returned for the series finale, even though Lucas was in a s9 episode. I wish Karen, Peyton, and Lucas could've all been there.
