And also we only saw Damon and Elena reunited with their loved ones, are we supposed to think Caroline was still alive? or Bonnie? or they just didn't hang after death?

I don't even watch the show but caught the last 15 minutes. I think Elena and Damon looked young dead because they were Spirits and could look how they wanted to look. Elena wanted to look young while reuniting with family and both brothers wanted to look like they did when they last saw each other so they went there too.

I have some psychic ability so this sort of thing intrigues me, lol.

Katherine was definitely better than Elena, but I was underwhelmed by her return, in general. She didn't really have that much to do. Katherine kept getting stabbed and knocked out and Elena wasn't shown until the very end.
