The thing is, all of them, at some point, have regretted and apologized for it. But everything Damon does gets swept under the rug like characters, even showrunners get selective amnesia when it comes to him. Stefan gets a whole season dedicated to his feeling guilty and trying to redeem himself for all the sht he's done while Damon's wrongs don't even get acknowledged. He's sitting with Caroline toasting to her mom, but has he ever on screen, once, apologized to her? She isn't a random person on the street. She's his supposed besties daughter. Don't you think he owed an apology to her? I don't even want to get into the fckd up dyanmic that is DES because that would take me days to type, and I still wouldn't be done.
They have all been killers and abusers, and I wouldn't even mind if they all died in the end. But Damon has legit abused almost all of the main characters on this show(esp the ones he "loves") and never, not once, shown an iota of guilt or regret or tried to make up for it. At best he gets a slap on the wrist and then the next day everyone forgets everything he did. It wasn't as problematic in the beginning but since S4 it's just been ridic af. It's a supernatural show so killing and abuse is to be expected. My problem is the lack of acknowledgement and action. My endless hate for Damon aside, there's literally no reason for Damon to get a happy ending.

Are you sure this argument isn't about couple preference? Because this post is rather contradicting. If this isn't about couple preference then why do you think only SE fans would like the ending? I hated SE, the whole triangle actually, and yet I think this ending if true is pretty decent for both characters individually. As you said, show fans are people who want a happy ending, just because this supposed spoiler sounds unhappy to you doesn't mean it'd be unhappy for others. Bittersweet endings, even sad ones sometimes, have satisfied viewers many times in fiction. I can't take your argument seriously about no one liking the supposed ending since you seem to only be speaking for shippers who are mainly focused on their pairing being endgame, while saying no one will like it as if there isn't a diversity of viewers who watch the show for different reasons.

I'll agree that Bonnie's ending doesn't sound good but knowing JP she prolly thinks that's a happy ending lol. Damons doesn't sound too bad and Stefan and Elena having a reboot on a new life is pretty decent, although I do hope they have agency on this compulsion if the rumours are true.

I haven't watched the show is years, but I've been seeing spoilers about the final season and the latest one about the finale really don't seem that bad. Having normal human lives is the probably the best ending for people like Stefan and Elena, who both always sucked at being vampires. I also don't see Damon becoming human again, it doesn't fit the character for me, so ending up forever alone is for the best. He still gets to live which is more than he ever deserved. As for Bonnie's possible ending... Can't say I expected anything better from JP, she always hated Bonnie.

For me, it makes sense that Damon and Caroline might choose to let the people they love have normal human lives because they think it will make them happier than they could be with them. But what I don't understand is how Elena or Stefan would agree to it. Elena has made it clear that she wants a future with Damon and Stefan has made it clear that he wants a future with Caroline. They would be forcing this on them against their will, which, imo, makes it a terrible ending for both of them.

One other point has been made; Stefan and Elena cannot be compelled if they have the cure, which means someone takes the cure from Stefan. I'm still not so sure Bonnie doesn't become a vampire as it is the only way she can "die" and see Elena. Does Bonnie take the cure and die anyway? It's all so confusing.

Em, no it's NOT about MY couple preference at all to be honest. And my love for DE and SC has nothing to do with it. Whether someone of you like it or don't the show pointed it out that SC and DE ARE soulmates. Means that both couples ending up together is their happy ending. If 4 characters don't get their happy endings (leaving people who love you and you love go can't be considered a positive ending for either one out of 4) it means it's a sad ending. Simple as that. Because you can't be happy without the love ones.

To be honest Bonnie's ending is the only good one, she'll reunite with Enzo.

Whether I like something or not in the show is beside the point since I have an unbiased and open minded opinion on the spoilers, compared to you who thinks no one will be pleased if everyone goes their separate ways. Tell me again that this isn't speaking for only a portion of the fanbase, because I'm sure a lot of open minded viewers who don't care about ships would probably like these supposed endings.

You consistently said that the endings won't be happy if the characters don't get together, so I'm inclined to believe that this argument is about ships considering that a happy ending does not always have to be that way. This is a narrow minded thought and there are plenty of happy endings in fiction in which the soul mates did not stay together. La La Land says hi for example. In fact, soul mates usually don't end up together a lot in fiction, so I don't find it odd for JP to do that, although I personally think these rumours sound more like KW rather than her.
