I honestly hate what social media Star Wars fandom has become since the sequel trilogy began. I had a lot of hope that the new trilogy would bring people together in their love for Star Wars, not alienate people like the ridiculousness that occurred during the prequel era but every time I see someone say that Ben Solo was "not the son Leia deserved, Poe was" it makes me sick and reminds me that Carrie Fisher would be disgusted in some people's views towards her on-screen son.

There are too many people there calling themselves Star Wars fans who clearly aren't, let's be honest. They spread hate about something because they think it's the cool thing to do, not because they understand anything about it.

The fact that people have to point out who Poe's birth parents are and that Leia is not that person, just makes me rage.

Simon Pegg's official account has tweeted that David Prowse's family is auctioning some Star Wars merchandise (including an Empire Strikes Back rehearsal script) and a share of the proceeds will go to Alzheimer's Research

Okay, I have passionately defended the sequel trilogy since criticism first arose with The Last Jedi. But when I read things like this excerpt from a JJ Abrams interview who pretty much claims there was no true plan for the whole thing, I really do start to wonder why I wasted my time and bought any merchandise. --

Ugh this final TROS scene feels so inappropriate. The way JJ and Chris are adding a 'holier than thou' touch to the twins' dynamic by having them appear like ghostly disciples and then Rey has to look at them like her life is complete... The whole concept is just bizarre and it's deeply offensive to the memory of Ben Solo who never even got to spend time with her in the movies.

This tweet summarizes why I believe Rian Johnson did an incredible job of showing the many (and often overlooked) layers of Kylo Ren/Ben Solo that made him the most interesting character of the sequel trilogy.

Furthermore, it's why I always believe Adam Driver was the best actor of the new generation of Star Wars films, and third best overall in the series behind Harrison Ford and Ian McDiarmid.

We see in this scene of THE LAST JEDI that Adam could convey so much without a word about the depth of his character's conflict and suffering. This is at a time in the trilogy when he has to give the appearance of being Second in Command, Kylo Ren, lead of the Knights of Ren. He has to appear stern on the outside in order to fool his superiors... Yet when he's with Rey, she has a way of bringing out his softer side. Due to their spiritual connection, she's able to tap into realms of his mind in a way that ever so slightly reveals his vulnerability and desperation to be seen for his true self. Case in point -- how he tries to look disinterested, but then Adam majestically plays that pointed head turn and eye shift when Rey says his real name. It's subtle but it's one of the most real moments in the entire Sci-Fi series. --

Thanks for that Allison, you know I've honestly developed a new appreciation for the prequels in recent times. Not so much the acting but the settings / production design / evolution of Anakin's arc to Vader that people used to HATE but now have endeared to. They were made with a lot more love (on Lucas' part) than the sequels, unfortunately. I prefer the acting in the sequels, but that's about it.

And this is why tweets like this one are so true. Disney has just become a cash-cow & fans are rightfully bitter -
