I think Johnny Depp could get an Oscar nod, but that's it. Sean Penn would and should get the award though. Tom Cruise will probably also get a nom, but he wouldn't deserve to win.

I know a lot of the buzz is surrounding Cold Mountain, Mystic River, and LOTR but.. I cannot wait to see House of Sand and Fog. I just think the story looks extremely powerful.

With all this Oscar talk I have to say that only films that I'm really looking forward to is ROTK, Big Fish, House of Sand and Fog, and I'm really interested in Charlize Theron's acting in Monster.

If ya wanna help out with the site's own alternate Oscars, click my sig.
http://www.oscarwatch.com/ is an excellent resource, as is http://www.goldderby.com/ .

My picks for the Best Picture race (for now) are LOTR:ROTK, Mystic River, In America, Cold Mountain, and The Last Samurai.

We'll see.

I would!
I'm a huge Pearl Jam fan and I'm hoping and praying they'll win. The song is called Man of the Hour and is just beautiful.
The song only has one handicap: it's the band's first song without a major record company. The single is being sold only online through the band's fan club. So, I guess the song won't have much promotion because they don't have Sony behind them anymore.

This looks about right! And, I'm really rooting for Bill Murray & Sofia Coppola to be walking away not only with the nominations, but the Oscars as well. They did magnificently with Lost In Translation.

Kind of interesting that Naomi Watts and Jennifer Connely were subbed for nods at the Golden Globes.

With Naomi and Jennifer not having any GG nods, then the chances of them being Oscar nominated is pretty slim, IMO.

It would be great for me and Nicole fans if she won another Oscar. She'd only be the, what is it, third person in Academy history to win back-to-back.

I have a sweet spot for Nicole so I definitely wouldn't mind her winning a second oscar. I just think three nods in a row is quite an accomplishment.

I have a feeling that the Oscar will probably go to Charlize Theron. The buzz around her performance where she sort of de-glames herself seems to fit well in the eyes of the Academy.

Ok, that's my two cents and whole lot of sense I made, huh?

I think if Ewan wins, I'll just freak out. I've loved that boy for so many years, he diserves it. But I think Sean Astin diserves one too. I can't believe LOTR has been so over looked. The Academy can go jump for all I care. Bastards.

I'm thinking Big Fish might pick up a few nods and I hope it does. Tim Burton definately deserves it. Tom Cruise will probably get a nod, Mystic River, Cold Mountain as well. I'm not really smart about these awards things but those are just my thoughts.

I didn't even recognise Theron at all! If I were to be honest with you, I would never in a million years thought that was her.
