So Alaric continues to be an Originals-level über vampire? Because I thought it was only them who could compell other vampires? Also, can he reverse-compell Elena to remember stuff? Like, say Damon is back and it makes no sense to have Elena compelled to forget him so Alaric now compells her to remember? I forgot how compulsion is supposed to work on this show...

They do have to make her remember in some way.. who knows

To be honest I can see them being unable to reverse the compulsion and relying on Elena's love for Damon to overcome it.....

I wouldn't mind seeing Damon trying to trigger Elena's memory by taking her to certain places or doing certain things that represent their history. I still feel like the compulsion is a cop out. But I also think it's a nice way to freshen up their love story and reignite it. Elena is obviously gonna feel a pull towards Damon even though she won't understand why. This has the potential to be really amazing.

I'm not really a big fan of the compulsion thing either tbh. But I do admit I like the idea of Elena still being drawn to him & falling in love w/him all over again.

Defintely a cop out but I understand it. Elena is 100 percent gonna remember eventually, I just don't know when exactly. It will be nice to see Damon provoke her memory and her love for him overcome the compulsion. I just knew it wouldn't be as simple as a nice happy reunion....

Wouldn't put it past them not to have Damon lose his memory as well....

When Klaus compelled Stefan to forget him and Rebekah, he was able to make him remember years later in The End of The Affair. Since Alaric has the same powers of an Original vampire, he should be able to compel and uncompel other vampires like Klaus did.
