if you let fear control your actions, you cannot make a difference. no one will let him wander around where it's dangerous. he is a grown-up smart man, he's not going to put himself in unreasonable danger and if it was really dangerous, they wouldn't let him go.

I think it just depends where you go. As in many countries there are good and bad places, the bad places are the places that create the most 'news' i.e. fighting, protests ect... Im from Africa (South Africa to be specific) and there are many places which are absolutley awful (poverty stricken areas) and places where it is very modern & wealthy. Im sure Ian will be safe whereever he may stay in Zimbabwe

I wanted to go to Zimbabwe last year but the list of things to avoid and precautions you have to take scared the hell out of me! I decided to go to Hawaii instead
