Well, that's okay.

Better to sleep too much than not enough, I say. Besides, it's winter. Maybe you're, like, hibernating a little or something.

It must be. I slept 20 hours yesterday, but it must not have been bad, because I woke up in a good frame of mind.

Still hanging in there okay?

Still hanging in there.

There's just too many things to keep track of, so whatever energy I have is going towards that instead of anything that may be depression-related.

Also, I've had company at lunch at work this week, and that helps me with breaking the day in two, which helps me feel cheerier overall. So

How are you doing?

Oh I'm glad to hear that. About your lunch company that is.

I seem to be doing pretty good.

I'm trying not to freak out about how much I'm enjoying the company at lunch.

It feels like I'd be jinxing myself.

That’s cool Sunny!

It was kind of weird for me enjoying being at my work Christmas social for the first time ever!

I guess when the depression lifts a bit I realize I can enjoy other people’s company without the anxiety.

But it’s mid January, and I’m sick and I miss my friend right now who is gone. So it’s kind of too quiet and isolating again right now, and feeling lousy sick doesn’t help all that.

So apparently there is such a thing as post puppy depression. And I am pretty sure I have it right now. I feel bad because I should love her, right? Or maybe it'll take time just like new relationships do??

Leanne I know, I hope it won't be too much longer.

I think puppy parenthood is daunting and, unlike pregnancy, there is very little time to prepare for what's to come. Not that pregnancy ever prepares anyone fully, but it helps your body/hormones/mind/emotions, prepare for the challenge to a certain extent.

Pet adoption is not like that. Give yourself and your new friend time to breathe a bit.

That's true. When my sister had my nephew, she lived with us and I helped her out. That was actually easy compared to the new puppy so far.

Thanks, Claire

It is kinda like that, you look forward to a new pet but once they are in your home, reality hits that now you have an animal for years to come and you don’t know each other.

It was a bit rocky when I got my cat from the shelter at first. When I took him home, I was like wait, how am I gonna occupy him in such a small space to live. And then I was allergic more to him, he would bite me and attack me, pooped on my bed. But then I’d see him love his new bed and could not think of taking him back to the shelter. And now of course, over time, he bonded to me and me to him that life cannot be without the other. The uncertainty will calm once you guys get into a life schedule and routine and you do things to make your puppy bond with you.

When I left my cat at a cat sitters before my vacation, when I came home it was the first time my place was empty without him in it and I actually got close to crying cause it just wasn’t home without his body and face in the space with me.

These are the challenges that make us stronger, I hope.

Yeah, I don't think you can "cheer yourself up" out of a depression. But hang in there.

Well...cheer myself up wasn't the right word...I meant distracting

It's now 8am here in Netherlands. I have to work and so not in the mood. But I have to because next week is my last week and then I gone from there.
After that I want to take some rest, reload myself (if it's possible) and then looking for a new job
