Stephenie met with the cast of the Twilight movie! (2/21/08):

"Hey guys, I thought you might enjoy a couple of pictures from my weekend on the set of Twilight the movie. It was an amazing time; I had the chance to visit some of the film sites (Oregon is gorgeous!), go through the story boards (if just scanning through the sketches is so exciting, I can only imagine how much more thrilling the live action will be), watch some brief videos of stunt work (ouch! but so cool), and even catch a little bit of a vampire baseball game (look out—James is a ringer). My favorite part was dinner with some of the cast and crew. You don't know surreal until you sit down at a table with people out of your imagination. It was more than a little bit disturbing how pretty everyone was, and who knew movie stars were so nice? Anyway, if you ever get a chance to visit the set of a movie based on a book you wrote, I definitely recommend that you go for it." - Stephenie Meyer

"So, we are hanging out, and this guy walks up. I don't know if he is a stand in or just a makeup guinea pig, but he has his shirt off and he is COVERED IN GLITTER! Not yucky, thick disco glitter, but very fine and shimmery and quite lovely glitter! We get to talking to him a bit (very nice guy!) and find out that they are trying to decide whether to use glitter or CGI (or whatever it's called- can't remember at the moment). I told him, "yeah, you really have to glitter to be in the movie!" He was nice, and that was really cool to see that and to see what they are maybe going to do with the glitter aspect." - A Twilight Mom :)

sidhe-seer 11-23-2008 04:04 AM

thanks for the thread hon!!

Man I'm still not over the whole: i saw it twice
i need to see it again.. and again .. and again

**SuperGirl** 11-23-2008 06:32 AM

Don't forget about the OP. :)

I saw the movie for a second time last night. :D I still liked it, but my two friends that I went with absolutely hated it. Which kind of pisses me off. I think that if you go into the movie with an open mind, don't expect the world, and just enjoy it...you might actually like it. They were just too critical of everything. And I wanted to slap the girl behind me. Almost every scene she was like, "That's not what happened in the book!....That's not what Edward says!" Grahhh.

sidhe-seer 11-23-2008 06:57 AM

I actually LOVED it wasn't exactly the same as the book, what fun would that be if it was exactly the same and you knew what word happens next:look:?
It was like seeing the story from a new angle and i loooved it!

Considering the fact Summit is no WB or Paramond and don't have that much money to make 3 h movie to add everything, they really did GRWAT job if you ask me

and i still can't get over Edward saying "Sex" .. repetitively

foreveryoung20 11-23-2008 09:35 AM

I really really really LOVED it
I thought the cast was perfect, and I thought the scenes they brought to life were perfect as well.
Rob and Kristin were awesome (especially the chemistry)
I loved the Lion and the Lamb scene, it really looked like they were going to kiss
I loved of course the kiss scene, I mean the chemistry there was so good and then she fell asleep in his arms and didnt want him to leave :sigh:
I loved the prom scene of course and in the resteraunt when he was like I just told you I could read peoples minds and you think something is wrong with you, I loved that.
The baseball scene I loved too! The music and the effects and everything was really awesome!!!

angieswenson 11-23-2008 09:38 AM

I thought it was great as well. The more and more I think of it, I'm glad that it wasn't exactly like the book either. Plus it gives us more new stuff!

I have all kinds of fav parts, the whole movie basically. I loved when he popped out her dent!

Same, I love the parts they chose and I love how they ended it with EB happy and Victoria watching on, it really leaves the story open!!

I loved that too, and how he was like I am going to take you to meet my parents, I dont know why but I love the way Rob played that scene and his facial expressions when they did meet her

Does anyone know if they have baseball t-shirts at Hot Topic??

angieswenson 11-23-2008 09:50 AM

Am I high? When did he say "Sex" repetitivly?

did you guys think it was funny at the ending credits when they were walking and they fell backwards into the leaves and busted out laughing? i thought it was adorable!

and did anyone else love the dream sequence thing when they were laying and the snow was falling down, when she thought she was dying? loved those parts.]

Rob's facial expressions during that family meeting OWNED! The whole theater was cracking up both times!

sidhe-seer 11-23-2008 09:56 AM

when he took her to the dinner and was telling he what people around them were thinking:

the best in the credits was when he suddenly "woke up" and dragged him with herself to the bed, kissing

angieswenson 11-23-2008 09:58 AM

Ohhh okay! Yeah it's settling in now  I thought they meant like sex with her! I was freaking out!

I loved that part when he put himself on her bed! Funny.

sidhe-seer 11-23-2008 10:01 AM

I hope there will be bloopers on dvd.. especially with Rob falling from that bed while they were kissing

angieswenson 11-23-2008 10:05 AM

I know! I hope we get a gag reel and bloopers, maybe an audition piece? [] and some behind the scenes footage!

**SuperGirl** 11-23-2008 10:20 AM

A gag reel would be great, especially of Bella/Kristen trying to fall and trip. :D

angieswenson 11-23-2008 10:22 AM

 yeah!

Does anyone else feel kind of nervous or giddy at the start of the movie when they go to watch it? The 1st time, I was a little excited/nervous bc it was so new, but I shocked myself that I was ansy the 2nd time around. All this adrenile washes over me and I'm all giddy, silently in the chair.

**SuperGirl** 11-23-2008 10:26 AM

Even the second time around, I was still smiling each time the characters first showed up on the screen. It's fun to see and hear other people's reactions now too! ;) :D

foreveryoung20 11-23-2008 10:38 AM

I loved all that as well.

I thought a really cool scene was when Bella was having a dream of Edward biting her, and it was set in a different tone effect if that makes sense
and it had a glow effect. And Edward lifts her body up and looks at the camera with blood on his face, I thought that was awesomly done.

I loved the end credits when they fell back in the leaves
and in the scene with the snow and them just laying there :sigh:

guys Twilight makes 72 million out of Opening Weekend! :D

Summit Entertainment's low cost blockbuster Twilight opened huge as expected because of heavy pre-sales with $35.7M Friday. But early numbers show the front-loaded pic dropped a big but expected 40% to $22M Saturday. (Similarly front loaded Sex And The City also had a big Friday to Saturday fall...)With an estimated $14M Sunday from 3,419 theaters, including $7M worth of Thursday midnight shows, Twilight will end up with $72M for its first North American weekend in release. Fangirls -- or should I say fang-girls -- were buying 5 Twilight tickets per second as of early Friday morning, making it online ticket-seller Fandango's fastest-selling film since The Dark Knight last July. Then the tween and teen females in store bought or homemade Twilight clothes (and even Twilight tattoos) flocked to the first Big Screen version of Stephenie Meyer's bestselling series of Romeo & Juliet-style vampire romance books. Yet the movie adaptation was made by start-up studio Summit for only $37M. This will be the start of a big new franchise since a sequel is already in the works -- New Moon, based on Meyer's second book in the series. The first box office records have already been broken by Twilight's girl power. This is the biggest opening for a female director. Catherine Hardwicke is easily beating Mimi Leder's $41.1M for 1998's Deep Impact. (But with an asterisk since these figures aren't adjusted for inflation, ticket prices, etc.) Twilight will have the 2nd best opening day for a November release behind Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, and the 11th best Friday opening of all time, beating the first Harry Potter And The Sorcerer's Stone, and the 15th best opening day ever. It's a defining moment for Summit's start-up studio that had really struggled on its first few releases. On Saturday morning, Summit officially announced the greenlight for the New Moon sequel (I'm told to contain costs the studio is considering making sequels #2 and #3 back to back like other successful franchises have done), and Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart formally thanked fans for their support of what is now a movie franchise.

LuvinJames23 11-23-2008 11:12 AM

OMG! So they'll be filming New Moon and Eclipse back to back! It's gonna be one heck of a year!! :yay:

I really hope they'll be given a much bigger budget. I'd kinda think they would have to considering that the werewolves will be introduced in NM.

I also really really REALLY hope they decide to make Breaking Dawn as well! There's so many EB moments in that book I want to see Rob and Kristen portray sooo badly! :sigh:

**SuperGirl** 11-23-2008 11:30 AM

As a Jacob/Bella fan, I'm really not looking forward to a BD movie. ;)

And 72 million is great, and the weekend isn't even over yet! :)

BehrItAll 11-23-2008 11:44 AM

Wow, that is good news to film it back to back.

Ok I am coming out of lurk-dom to post my review :)

Over all I did really like it. I thought it was a pretty good adaptation of a 500 page novel into a two hour movie. There are a few scenes I was really looking forward to seeing (more on that in the cut), but I understand you can't possibly put it all in there.

I HAVE to say I was so impressed with the audience. I went with my sister to the first showing Saturday morning hoping to avoid giggly, squeeing, hyperventilating fangirls. When we got there the theater was already packed and I was like, "Oh no, I won't be able to hear a word of this!" But they were so well behaved. The giggled at certain parts but no screaming AT ALL! I was so frakking thrilled!

Anyway, IMHO I reeeeeeaaaaallllllly feel you HAVE to have read the book before because the details that were taken out would make a viewer who didn't read the books be lost on so many, many things. Also Edward and Bella's relationship felt rushed. Which while it happens fast in the book too it is still more drawn out through many plot-less scenes and fleshed out through Bella's thoughts. And therefore I also think a viewer won't understand the dysfunctional, obsessive intensity of their attraction to each other.

So which shall I start with, the things I was disappointed in or the positive? I guess always ending on the positive is better so here we go-

Disappointments: (mostly have to do with scenes from the book I was hoping to see)

- I am so bummed the "Do I dazzle you?"/"Frequently" exchange was taken out. Sure it is cheesy as hell but it is like the most famous quote from the book. It spawned like thousands of icons.
So yea, sucks that wasn't in there.

- There was also the "mind over matter" scene that would have been good to include. Would explain how Edward is able to be around Bella and not drink her dry. (As well as 'resist the wine, enjoy the bouquet' quote). Again cheesy, but come on. I wanted to hear it.

- The Cullens had so few scenes. :( Gosh even Rosalie had more scenes than Alice! (So looking forward to more Alice in New Moon. Yellow Porche!). And also, mentioning before the important details they left out, Edward only explains why/how he was changed and briefly touches on Esme's change. No mention of how Rose, Emmett, Alice and Jasper joined the family. I mean at least mention it. What are they? Chopped liver?
And And, they cut out James' story of Alice's history! How he tracked her when she was still human but she was transformed and the trill of the hunt was gone. Jeeze.....

-The lines from the meadow don't even happen in the meadow. In fact they combine the dance and prom into one event so Bella's excuse to get out of the dance became her excuse to get out of prom and then Edward couldn't offer to go with her to Settle that day. Thus rearranging the meadow scene completely and then that part REALLY felt rushed to me.

-Which brings me to the Sparkle scene. Ok I know every person has their own idea of how the vampires look like in the sun, but I thought it was so subtle....
......Which, actually - on second thought was a good decision. Because my idea of it was too over the top anyway. I thought he'd cast off moonbeam reflections all over the place. Edward just looked like he had an odd skin condition.

- Overall the special effects were not outstanding but the budget was small and I think they did the best with what they had to work with. I think if it makes tons of money for the sequels the special effects will be better.

- You know I don't think Bella says the actual line her mother told Charlie when she walked out on him.

Ok now the parts I LIKED:

- Bella and (her dad) Charlie's chemistry. I thought they did a great job for the estranged and awkward relationship they had. And me and the theater laughed when he was about to meet Edward and also when he drew the curtain shut on Tyler.

- Kudos on having Bella and Charlie eat meals out rather than her cooking for him all the time.

- I liked that the nomads came into the story earlier. They were pretty hot and badass. James (Cam Gigandet) is not bad to look at. Victoria (Rachelle Lefevre) I really liked. "I'm the one with the wicked curve ball." LOL :D And her scene at the end *bug grin*, I hope she has more to do in New Moon.

- "La Traviata" does not play during the Port Angeles restaurant scene but during the scene when the Cullens cook for Bella. I liked that scene. That was funny.

-Oh! I really like how Jacob didn't tell Bella the whole legend and she had to investigate on her own and that brought her to the bookstore. That was well done. So there was one change I liked.

-So while on this thought let me talk about the actor playing Jacob, Taylor Lautner. I thought he did good in this film for the small scenes he has. He and Kristen had good chemistry, especially when she first gets her truck. But I have no idea how they are going to make him grow into werewolf for the next movies.....

- It's amazing how on such a big screen you really see how flat Robert Pattinson's profile is.

Other than that I thought he made a really great Edward. He got that tortured 'soul' character down pat. Love those strange faces he makes the whole way through. LOL

- LOL when Jessica points out the Cullens to Bella and says Jasper is the one 'who looks like he is in pain'. Edward had that same look too when he was around Bella. Very lolz and amusing to watch. His first reaction to her in Bio was very lolz. That was entertaining.
Oh an going back to Jessica's explanation /introduction of the Cullen's I was so pleased that she pointed out that even though they are all adopted and not really related it is still creepy that Rosalie/Emmett and Alice/Jasper are couples. Because it is. To the others who don't know the specifics of their lives it does look like a form of incest.

- Kristen's performance. You know she is very monotone when she speaks and she does fidget a bit but seeing the movie as whole I think it worked for Bella. I was also glad they toned down her clumsiness. And also I was glad to see that when Edward puts her in the truck and tries to get her seat belt on she snapped at him that she could do it herself. I think she did her best acting during the whole ballet studio/James confrontation scene. Which for me having seen it a bunch of times as a sneak peaks on shows the excitement was kind of gone but seeing it not cut and just continuing was very cool.

- I found Bella's dream of Edward biting her while they were dressed in strange costumes very amusing LOL. When do I get to see icons of that?

- The music. I already said I liked the soundtrack a lot and I thought it was used so well throughout the film.
(Except one disappointment is that "Bella's Lullaby" is not mentioned as THEE song that Edward wrote for her. he just plays it. Nice camera angles in that scene though). Besides that the music was placed well. I do wish that Radiohead song, "15 Steps" which played during the credits was included on the soundtrack. :(

- Cool clips used in a montage before the credits role :)

- Not yet sure how I feel about the very close ups Catherine did. Sometime I felt like I was invading the characters' personal space.

-Baseball scene. AWESOME! I sooooooooo enjoyed that scene. With Muse's "Supermassive Black Hole" playing in the background! AND I LOVE THE WAY ALICE PITCHES! It's like she's dancing. She kept doing this thing with her leg. I need a .gif of that.

-Prom was very pretty. Edward teasing Bella with a neck-bite-turned kiss was very sensual.
But why oh why was she wearing capri cut leggings and a sneaker shoe with her pretty formal dress?

I may see it again soon. :)

I'd give it a solid B+

aśka 11-23-2008 11:49 AM

I'm a Bella&Edward fan so I hate Jacob :lmao: He is so stupid thinking he can have Bella :lmao:

Bella Grint 11-23-2008 11:50 AM

Oh yeh Edward saying sex a lot was a nice added change ;)

And NM and Eclipse will be filmed back to back?

LuvinJames23 11-23-2008 12:01 PM

Yes, it says in the article above that Summit is considering making NM and Eclipse back to back to contain costs. I think it's a good idea cuz Rob and Kristin are getting older and Edward isn't supposed to.
