I guess I can see that about Angel then. Glory was emotional too since Buffy thought she couldn't beat her, what she did to Tara, having to protect Dawn, etc.

Indeed, but at the same time, there was always the view amongst them that Glory was the enemy, and she wasn't really anything else to the Core Scoobies, but a villain. In Angelus' case, he'd been one of them, and had been trusted. Having to deal with those conflicting emotions would have made it difficult for not just Buffy, but everyone else as well.

I liked how we had a split season with this. As soon as Angel became the villain, the whole tone of the second half shifted. I liked that change in dynamic.

As did I. I think the first half of the season was the result of left-over ideas from Season 1 that they didn't get to do at the time because of time constrictions

Agreed completely!

This episode, following through with Surprise/Innocence was when, for me, this show became what it was - and showed the talent and the capability of everyone involved in it.

It was Passion that made me interested in writing and storytelling. I watched it live and thought it was fantastic even though my young teen heart was breaking.

Season 2 is what put the show on the map to me. And it will always be one of my favorites season, of not just Buffy, but of any show.

Episodes like Passion and both parts of Becoming are some of the Buffy episodes I tend to hold up as the gold standard against other sci-fi/fantasy shows I've watched since then.

Watched WSWB last night, such a great series premiere! I think it may be my favorite of them all. Seeing Buffy work out her issues after Prophesy Girl was great and well written. The tone of s2 feels different from s1 from the start. There's such intensity to it that's sprinkled with some funny moments. Like Snyder complaining about the children coming into the school like locusts. And Xander asking what a bitca was.

I like how the show picked up right where s1 left off even though there was a summer in between seasons. I'm glad the master stuff was finished right away instead of them lingering over it too long. The scene at the end with the scoobies is easily one of my favorites of theirs.

They were the best couples on the show for me.
I wish they wouldn`t have broken them up...

This was the only season where I liked Spike (even though his one episode in S3 was funny) cause he was a funny, badass villain. After this he's just pathetic and pointless. This is my favorite season after S3.

Bitchy Buffy was annoying. She was so mopey. She's the slayer, like get it together! I knew she was gonna be depressed after season 1 though, you could see it on her face.

Willow and Xander almost kiss was really effing weird, like that sort of came from nowhere? We hadn't seen them all summer so it would have been nice getting some build up to that? And it was weird that Xander didn't even mention it later. It was cute when he told Buffy that if Willow was hurt he'd kill her though. I do sort of ship it. lol.

Buffy/Xander, heck no.

Cordelia was great in this episode actually being nice to the group and then giving Buffy words of wisdom. I want more of that Cordelia please.

I agree with you that Buffy acting the way she did in this episode was so difficult to watch.
One of the few where I did like Cordy over Buffy. lol

I always hated how much of a b*tch Buffy is in this episode. Yeah, when Cordelia warned her about losing her only friends over her behavior was one of the few times I liked her. Early S2 is the short time I was fine with a Xander/Willow pairing, but that doesn't last and you'll eventually see why this season. I did like their almost kiss in this episode though, but of course he quickly goes back to shunning Willow as soon as Buffy comes back RMFE.
