Everwood Fans who are Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie Fans of Dawson's Creek #33: At least Berlanti learned from this disaster of a show!

This is an appreciation thread for Everwood fans who are also Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans. For those who shipped these pairings, the series once had such great promise, but ended up being one of the most disappointing series to date. TPTB enjoyed manipulating the heart and soul of the old school (seasons 1/2) Dawson's Creek audience, who embraced the premise and the main pairings of the show; Dawson/Joey and Pacey/Andie fans. The first two seasons defined Dawson's Creek. Season 3 came along and the show simply wasn't the same anymore. New showrunner who essentially mocked the premise, destroyed the main pairings, and was basically just fine with dropping the quality in order to make the series his own. We know the drill. Discussing our main pairings, as well frustrations over storylines, writing, TPTB, fandom in general, is all welcome here.

Note: This is not a debate thread with other ships. This thread is strictly for Dawson/Joey & Pacey/Andie fans to appreciate the pairings and discuss aspects of the show, both good and bad. This thread was originally created to celebrate friendships between a couple of regulars on the Everwood board who, back in the day, posted on the Dawson's Creek board and encountered some terrible fan wars and not so great moments. We wanted a safe place to discuss our thoughts here on the Everwood board. That is how this thread was created. Jerry D, our amazing Administrator, and my very good friend, came up with the idea and the rest is history. For those of you who ship other pairings and don't agree with the content of this thread, of course there's the Dawson's Creek board and other threads scattered throughout Fan Forum perfectly designed for you.

Thanks!

Alternate S5 & S6 : He made a solemn promise he would come and visit her. Hell, he even jotted it down in indelible black ink onto the crisp pages of her brand new journal while wearing a big toothy grin on his face, but regardless, it had been months since Pacey had made any contact with Andie. Andie forced herself not to overthink it and chalked it up to life getting in the way, but the smallest embers inside of her heart that yearned for him still despite everything that happened between them started to prickle at the back of her head. Although once the orientation process at Harvard was over and the real work began, Andie’s thoughts of Pacey Witter were sidelined in order to make room for the mountains and mountains of schoolwork she was receiving on a daily basis.

That was until, out of the blue, Pacey literally came sailing back into her life looking tanned, well rested, and even more gorgeous. Andie vowed to never let herself fall back in love with Pacey, she made an ironclad pledge to herself to never stray back into that hornet’s nest, but his soft, warm gaze pointed in her direction had Andie convinced his heart was remembering the way it used to love her.

She was one hundred percent correct in her assumptions.

The laughter between them settled into a deep warmth and easiness, and they talked well into the wee hours of the night and gradually, the intimacy they once coveted as a couple so long ago had returned to their bodies in triplicate. It started with Pacey’s hand brushing up against hers when she handed him a magazine from a convenience store shelf, which then evolved into their hugs becoming longer and more needy each time they touched. Soon enough, Pacey did the unthinkable, and asked Andie a question she never thought she’d hear again in her life from him…

Pacey Witter had asked her out on a date.

At first, they had both agreed to not invest too much of themselves into the date, stating an urge to take things as slow as they could in order to protect themselves from any harmful fallout, but Pacey and Andie’s mutually intense bedroom eyes that screamed “make love to me.” seemed to tell another story altogether. The immense pain of potentially opening up old wounds over how their relationship crumbled in the past fell to the wayside as Pacey and Andie ended up having passionate, raw, soul searing sex in Andie’s shower. Every single iota of mistrust, devastating heartbreak, and bad memories in their past circled its way down the drain.

And as Andie sat by her vanity, drying her hair and watching Pacey getting ready for bed, she smiled to herself. At long last, she finally felt like she could breathe again.

Thanks for the new thread Michelle!

There are only three things that I've taken away from Dawson's Creek as positives:
  • It reawakened my love of writing.
  • It got me my start here at Fan Forum.
  • It allowed me to meet you.

Michelle, the positives that Jerry cited also holds true for me. I was so mad at what happened, I was determined to write a story to correct what I considered a bogus ending. So I wrote a hideous story. [ Kiss Me, is the is the re-write of that story.] With the help of Marla's Lost, who was cited by an online fiction site as one of the best writers on Fanfiction; over time I learned how to write a decent story. After writing about 40 stories in 4 years, I sort of burned out, But I miss writing and hope to start again.

And thanks for keeping my idea's for a thread title, but if someone comes up with a killer thread title use it. I can wait.

Awe.

Exactly.

My list:

1. It got me here at Fan Forum.
2. It allowed me to meet you, too.
3. It allowed me to find my romantic love, and you played a part in this as well by suggesting Everwood.

Those are three reasons I literally have to thank Dawson’s Creek for.

I knew Dawson's Creek existed, but I never watched a single minute of the series.

For some reason I watched The O. C. I enjoyed it, and I had a lot of time on my hands, so I decided t see what all the fuss over Dawson's Creek was about. Now this is a few years after the series was off the air. Anyway in my area it wasn't on TV. So I decided to watch it on the internet, which was a trip. I had to hunt all over the net to find episodes. I never did find season two. Most of the episodes were on Korean streaming services, but I also used services from USA, Japan, and China.

So I watched the whole series except for season two, I did watch the first episode of season two and that was it, till around the 4th or 5th episodes of season three. I wondered who the cute blonde was and how she fit into the story. So a few months later I broke down and purchased season two. when I finished viewing season two I had a huge WTF moment. Now I had to buy season three to see what happened at the beginning of the season.

When I finished viewing the episodes I missed, I was left more confused than ever. The series made absolutely no sense to me. I wondered why Meredith Monroe was let go. In my opinion she was one of the better actors. Anyway I started poking around to see if I could find answers I found the youtube clip of Andie visiting the hospital season six, now I was really confused. I really started researching the net for answers, and I bought a few books. Thsi is how I came up with my theory of what happened.

My one regret is that I never copied and saved my research. Some of my theories I can no longer back up.

By the way this is when I found Fanforum.

Incredible process, especially since S2 is what you couldn’t view in full right away (PA). I bet it was really confusing for you. I would have loved viewing your research.

What did you think of Katie/Joey right away without knowing the full story initially? Wondering if you thought she was a terrible actress/bad character from the start.

Just rewatched the S1 finale and I can’t tell you how much I love it. The scene with Joey & Her dad is wonderful and I love he knows Dawson & Joey love each other just by how they look at one another. No matter what anyone says Dawson kissing Joey will always be the biggest moment during the shows history. The end scene is wonderful.

If not for S2 Pacey/Andie, I wish the series would have ended after one season. The finale of 1 would have been the ultimate ending.

I completely agree. The only thing good about Season Two was Pacey and Andie's relationship. Other than that though, it was a disaster, and the other seasons were a joke.

It really did. What helped is that the entire season was filmed before the first episode aired, so it played out like a mini-series and it wasn't influenced by the fanbase. Season One was the only season that Kevin Williamson put his heart and soul into. No one thought that the show would be renewed as it was a mid-season replacement show with only 13 episodes, but it was in the right place at the right time and it became tremendously popular (for The WB) and it got renewed, but Williamson, following the pattern he's now so well known for, gave the show only half his attention in Season Two and he walked away from the show entirely at the end of Season Two, and the show suffered for it.

I cheered so loud in 98 with the ending. It was all building up to that beautiful moment.
